Even though it’s not yet been announced, I’m told that Roger Ebert and Richard Roeper are giving Sony/Imagine’s The Da Vinci Code two thumbs-up. So far, they, and Lou Lumenick of the New York Post, are the only major film critics who like the movie. Already, Richard Corliss for Time magazine, Todd McCarthy for Variety, Owen Gleiberman for Entertainment Weekly, Claudia Puig at USA Today, Tony (A.O.) Scott of The New York Times, Peter Travers of Rolling Stone, Steven Rea of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Kenny Turan of the Los Angeles Times are panning it as dull or lifeless or tedious or boring — or all four.
