BAFTA, the British Oscars, crowned The Queen best film, United 93‘s Paul Greengrass best director, Helen Mirren best actress for The Queen and, Forest Whitaker best actor for Last King of Scotland, which also won the Alexander Korda Award for best British film of the year as well as best adapted screenplay prize for Peter Morgan and Jeremy Brock. Pan’s Labyrinth won best film not in the English language. Best supporting actor went to Alan Arkin of Little Miss Sunshine, and best supporting actress to Jennifer Hudson of Dreamgirls. Best original screenplay went to Little Miss Sunshine‘s Michael Arndt. Andrea Arnold, director of Red Road, won the Carl Foreman Award for a first-time British filmmaker. Casino Royale‘s Eva Green won the Orange Rising Star award for emerging talent, which is decided by public vote. Happy Feet won BAFTA’s new animated feature category. Location manager Nick Daubeny was presented with the Michael Balcon Award for British contribution to cinema. Film editor Anne V. Coates received the Academy Fellowship, the highest accolade bestowed by the Academy. here’s the list of winners:
