The motion picture lit agent's hiring is effective immediately. It had been a competitive situation, since the 17-year CAA vet was taking meetings with major tenpercenteries. "David is a terrific agent with a history of working at the highest levels in the business," ICM prez Chris Silbermann said in a statement. "He has developed some amazing careers for both writers and directors, and we look forward to him joining our team." Unclear yet which clients will follow him, but Styne was the longtime rep for writers John Logan (Gladiator, The Last Samurai and Sweeney Todd – post production); Russell Gewirtz (Inside Man); David McKenna (Blow); Caspian Tredwell-Owen (The Island); Chris Kyle (K-19: The Widowmaker), Vincent Ngo, and Jason Hall, as well as director Gil Kenan (Monster House) and producer Andrew Lazar. He was also on the team of CAA agents for Oliver Stone, Michael Mann, Taylor Hackford, John Logan, Brian Koppelman and David Levien. I heard the axed Styne's friction with CAA was Mann-related.
