Yes, the AMPTP and WGA are still talking — or what passes for talking between this bunch. What was only supposed to be three days of talks is now four days of talks. Next round skedded for 10 AM Thursday.
UPDATE: I’ll have a full report about the Talks Day #3.

My husband is a reality writer and he is not WGA. As he is in between shows and immensely in support of this strike, he walks the lines SEVERAL days a week. In fact he walks with a playwright friend of his who is also not yet in the union. I am also in the industry and am also greatly affected by the strike. We support the writers as if we were union members. Our 5 year old daughter was out there on the line on the “bring your kids to the line” day.
As for having jurisdiction over reality writers and game show writers. It sure doesn’t feel like a battle to pick right now. First of all, the writer’s from America’s Next Top Model did not fare well in their walk out and were not supported enough to win a thing. Secondly, reality writing jobs are very possibly being phased out. They very well may be phased out by changing the title of the job from writer/story editor to field producer or producing editor. The current job responsibilites of the writer will be parsed to those two jobs.
It does not seem wise to pick on other people in the industry who are even less supported than someone in a union job. It’s likely you writers are walking with all sorts of people supporting you every day. Bask in it. Don’t pick on it, please.
Forgiveness is giving up the hope of a better past. My new hope is that we can forgive each other and move on to a fair deal. That said… let’s stop the bullsh*t and get this thing finished.
