That’s fabulous! And all we need in exchange is 15% of your income. One of the main reasons television is sinking is because there are too many barnacles on the boat.
This is almost as sad as the actors that join the picket line for their photo op.
Added Bonus:
Eva Longoria will be handing out little pizza rolls for everyone.
I have no idea who Matt Sherman is, but if he wants to buy me drinks just because I’m a WGAw member, I’m there. I have to say, this is really turning into the season of cocktail parties. Picket all day, drink all night. Signed, “Unemployed Writer” Nikki, how are we supposed to identify ourselves again, and what’s with all this code language about tags? Am I too drunk to decipher?
How rude not to include the crews of the shows that are no longer up…
Only 100 plus per show, that should be easy to include.
Sucks to be collateral damage…
I’m with Andy on this. The bloggers have been bitching about this “MSM” for years now. Well, I guess if he’s buying me a drink or two or three I’ll probably just forgive him for all that biased reporting and whatnot.
Will there be churros?
“how are we supposed to identify ourselves again, and what’s with all this code language about tags? Am I too drunk to decipher?”
I’m with Crewchick on this one…Are they planning on doing anything for the people forced out of their jobs, unwillingly…and don’t have a union for support? What about all of these people?
This town can be so hypocritical.
He wants to rep some of these writers. Hence he’s not interested in unsexy crew members who wouldn’t make real money for him.
Hey fellow laid off crew members. Maybe we Prop people should go down to the picket lines and bring them directors chairs to sit their greedy asses in. Maybe the laid off costumers can come and provide comfort coats and hats to people too stupid to dress themselves. Perhaps the laid off hairdressers can provide some free haircuts. Oh and of course the laid off P.A.s can run around and bring them coffee and lunch since they are so busy slaving on the picket line.
To our IA Propmaster brother:
The average WGA writer makes 62k a year, minus agent 10%, minus lawyer 5%, minus taxes. It’s less than 50k. We in the WGA did a terrible job getting that truth out there in the first days of the strike, and now people think we’re all rich, spoiled brats.
It ain’t so. I’ll bet you make more as an IA propmaster than the average writer does. I hear and understand your frustration, but we aren’t “greedy.” Residuals are rent money for most of us.
Paramount fired CEO Tom Freston and gave him a 60 million dollar golden parachute. Ovitz got 200 million for working at Disney five months. The current media CEOs and top execs have salaries in the 10-100 million dollar range.
On DVDs, the WGA is only asking for $57 million to spilt between 12,000 families.
Please don’t fall for the corporate propaganda that writers are greedy. They are trying to divide us.
I have just heard that the invite was to the writers but this includes everyone in the strike. This guy dosent rep writers at all and just thought he might bring something positive and fun to the situation. If you are a crew member, im told to come on down. If your a writer bring your wga card for admittance. Its all good with me. I would like to work but if the networks and producers aint gonna let us, then I appreciate the gesture.
