CAA agents and assistants delivering platters of churros to the massive WGA strike rally at Fox Plaza today. No, I’m not going to make a dig (even though the photo was sent to me with the subject line: “Apocalyptic Image”.) It was a nice thing to do.
Olé CAA!

And here I thought it was a preview for The Apprentice. All joking aside, very nice gesture. Kudos to them for it.
Screw those dummies at CAA… They passed on me.
Although those warm churros did hit the spot.
Nice, yes. Still scary. Reminds me a bit of “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”, except with better clothes.
That’s cool. What’s also nice is that CAA were the only ones not brandishing their logo all over the place. UTA/WMA had shirts, hats, etc. Per one of the churo guys, “It’s not about us…”
Everybody RUNNNNN! The Death Star has unleashed its smiling minions.
All manner of creature are coming out of the woodwork, right on cue according to the script. Freak-show Men-in-Blacks [from photo] look like a bunch of Scientologists running amuck. Fuck.
churros in exchange for 10% of your income for life. sounds fair.
Totally surreal to see these guys amidst all the sunburned, schlubby writers. What hair! What clothes! But it was a really cool thing for them to do. I was totally charmed, I admit it.
will the writers bring those assistants churros once they have been fired because of the strike I wonder?
That shot does make things look rather nuclear winter-ish, but I have to say, those churros hit the spot. — Unemployed Writer
Who are these douches? Agents or assistants? Get those smiles off your faces. None of you will last in this business anyway.
The better thing here is that the agencies are still supporting the local economy that depends on the entertainment industry. Whoever or whatever watches us, please do not let us collectively raze the place to the ground over this (and yes, in any war, no matter how righteous one or the other side’s cause, both sides share culpability for the innocent bystanders that suffer).
Now if they would just never go to the Century City mall again.
That image gives me the creeps.
When Rage was playing, I was standing very close by to CAA’s “churro platter resupply station”, a large dolly of churros in boxes to re-fill empty trays. At one point i looked over and saw several CAA assistants scarfing down churros like hungry jackals. Missed the action with my video camera by mere seconds.
Hey, CAA, what gives? The steaks at Craft aren’t good enough for the poor writers? At lunch time today, I was eating at Factors at the counter and I sensed the place was filling up with strikers. I turned around and saw table after table of WGA members wearing their trademark red shirts. I turned to my friend and in a very Haley Joel Osment tone I said “I see red people.”
Hmmm. Not exactly what Mike O. had in mind when he referred to his foot soldiers going up and down Wilshire Blvd. looking to blow writers’ brains out.
In the old days CAA had better weapons than churros anyway.
Thanks for the shot. It reminded me why I left the business, moved to the east coast, and got a real job.
“When there’s no room left in hell, the dead shall walk the earth.”
- DAWN OF THE DEAD
It was a really nice gesture on the part of CAA and made me proud to be a client. The solid support of the writers on the part of every agency in town has lifted all the picketers’ spirits. And I hope it sends bowel-shaking fear down the withered bodies of the Palpatines who run the multi-billion-dollar Companies.
