By now you've heard about that survey by Pepperdine University's Graziadio School of Business Management finding 2 of 3 Americans, or 63%, back the Writers Guild Of America in their dispute with the studios and networks. The spokesperson for the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers said the findings weren't surprising "when the only real information the public is getting is from sound bites and the issues are as complex as these." Tonight, a WGA board member had this to say to me about the study: "Four times as many Americans believe in UFOs as believe Nick Counter."

That quote at the end is hilarious! I think the WGA needs to step it up even more. Let’s get the writer/actors of “The Office” to do guest spots on “Ellen”, “Regis” and “The View.” (Ellen especially should be open to this as she needs to look at least a little pro-WGA after the recent controversy.)

Yeah, it’s been really unfair, what with the massive front page coverage the WGA rallies have been getting in the LA Times and the wall-to-wall exposure to the issues by the rest of the media. .
It’s just not fair how the WGA owns the whole media industry.
…or could it be, maybe, that the public are sick and tired of the constant abuse by megacorporations and are happy to see the little guy stick up for themselves for once?
C’mon…name 1 strike in any industry where the public has sided with the “big bad corporations”. It’s not about any of the actual issues. It’s about the “little guy” up against the “big guy”. People will naturally back the individuals because that’s who they associate themselves with.
Oh goodness, what a perfect picture! UFO-film reels? Brilliant!
I think 100% of people should believe in UFOs. It’s just an acronym, meaning Unidentified Flying Object. It is not synonymous with alien spacecraft!
I think it’s entirely possible to see something in the sky and not know what it is, to be unable to identify it.
There’s a lot of misconception here, and since a big part of the whole WGA Strike is about misconceptions (how writers get paid, why, etc), it’s silly to include more.
People aren’t stupid. They know how much these studios make and how much the writer gets screwed out of the deal. If I do say so, this is the proudest I’ve ever been to be an American…besides that whole World War II thing…but I wasn’t born yet, so yeah, this is the most patriotic I’ve ever felt. And let’s be perfectly honest–Hollywood’s next move could have a major impact regarding the Iraq War.
I agree with Trott W. Bush. I haven’t felt this much pride in America since the early “shock & awe” days of the Iraq war. This is what America is all about. This is why we defended our freedom in Iraq. This is why we as Americans rally. God Bless America!
