I took a little personal time. Thanks for understanding. Lots to discuss tomorrow (strike and non-strike)!

Much deserved personal time I’m sure… thanks for keeping everyone updated in these tough times. You are an invaluable resource to me. Albeit, with every post the holiday budget gets ever closer to nil. Let’s hope the tide turns.
For what it’s worth, AMPTP you are as subtle as an elephant.
Okay, who’s the bastard that unchained Nikki from her desk? Fess up. Don’tcha know we need her more in the AM than a double shot of espresso?

Not only do we understand, but I’m sure many of us would happily send you food and wine to aid in your relaxation. Thanks again for your relentless commitment.
Glad you took some time off. You’ve been missed.
Nikki,
Your reporting is fantastic; take all the personal time you need!
Take all the time you need. Sadly, we all have time on our hands.
i need to my dhd fix..!!!
Can’t wait!!
“In what may be the AMPTP’s biggest misstep in the WGA strike’s PR war, the organization did not buy the URL for http://www.amptp.com.”
I think it’s great that these people are out on the line, but are they really more important than any writer out there walking around in circles for hours? No. They’re not. They’re just like the rest of us, putting in our time to show our solidarity. I respect them and all of us who go out in the snow, rain, heat or just ‘because we don’t feel like it, today’. Because it’s pretty evident from my own observation and from talking to people on the line that we all aren’t putting in our four shifts a week.
I wonder (and I’m asking, because I don’t know the answer) is David Kelly out there four days a week? How about Chuck Lorre? If they aren’t, why not? There should be no ‘privilege’ when it comes to walking that line. Someday, not to far down the line (hopefully) when we go back to work, we can go back to the well worn system of boss and underlings, but during this strike we are all equal. At least that’s the way it should be.
Okay – here is my suggestion – let’s send Nikki in to knock some sense into these people. She’d kick some ass. Go Nikki Go Nikki!!!!
Nice.

Fine. You cushioned the blow of the AMPTP walkout by telling us several days in advance that it was going to happen. You earned a couple margs and a massage. Enjoy the personal time, get back to posting soon.
Everyone needs a personal day Nikki. Hope you enjoyed yours. BTW, try to get a feel for what the advertisers are thinking. Thanks in advance.
Wow, really? You can’t even get the names right: “I am a voter and a supporter of unions and I am calling to say that as of this moment Chris Fabiani and Mark Lahane…”
It’s Mark Fabiani and Chris Lahane. Yikes.
Thanks for all your hard work, Nikki. DHD has become my daily newspaper–is that a good thing? I don’t know about anyone else, but things are starting to sink in, what was initially some welcome time off, has become something much less fun–right about when I made my first savings withdrawal. Keep on truckin’ and thanks again.
I made the call, and sent an email. Thanks for the heads up!
Enjoy your personal time, Nikki. You’ve done more to help the cause (the strike) that the writers who are walking around in circles for the cameras. Information equals power. And you’ve got the info in spades.
reminds me of the FREE COLBERT shirt i saw at

there needs to be some sort of public outing of those not logging picket line duty. i’m not talking ppl who fail to put in 4 shifts per week, i’m talking writers who NEVER show up. perhaps we should compile some sort of “john list” as they do for men busted for picking up hookers and post it on DHD…anyone ready to begin naming names?

I’ll kick things off:

My roommate and I were driving around Burbank yesterday (nothing to do since the town shut down) and saw the picketers in front of Warner Brothers. I said to my roommate, “you know, I bet now that they are in a prolonged strike, I bet you all those agencies who were dropping off donuts and food aren’t doing that any more.”
So we decided to spend 30 bucks at Donut Prince and buy 4 dozen donuts. We dropped them off at the Disney lines and the Warner Brothers lines.
I hope everyone enjoyed them.
Wow. Now we’re naming names. Thank God we’re the Good Guys.
Thanks for dropping the donuts off the other day to Disney! Sometimes we feel like the forgotten gate. Also thanks to the Jimmy Kimmel staff who dropped off the hotdogs today!
