When I saw Friday's heavy rains, I worried about all those gray eminences scheduled to gather outside Sony Studios for the "Hollywood Homecoming" picketing event in support of the striking WGA. Nevertheless, a crowd of 200 ignored the cold and damp. (Photos by Jim Stevenson.) Among those on the Washington Boulevard picket line were screenwriter Christopher Knopf, who served as WGA president from 1965-to-1967; several generations of the famed Mankiewicz screenwriting clan, including Tom Mankiewicz, who wrote many of the early James Bond flicks like Diamonds are Forever, Live and Let Die, The Man with the Golden Gun; his cousin Don Mankiewicz, Oscar-nominated writer, 1959, for I Want To Live; and Norman Borisoff, a WGA member since 1947 whose first credited screenplay was 1941’s Murder with Music followed by The Titan: Story of Michelangelo. Here's Borisoff with the "Hollywood Homecoming" organizer, casting agent Chad Darnell:

Our aging rockstars. They certainly look better than Mick and Ozzie.
John Mankiewicz is one of the nicest and funniest people I know…oh yeah and a talented writer.
Tom Mankiewicz co-wrote “The Man With The Golden Gun”, and “Diamonds Are Forever” with screenwriter Richard Maibaum. Mr. Mankiewicz’s other James Bond screenplay credit (sole credit) was on “Live and Let Die”. Richard Maibaum wrote a total of 13 James Bond films, co-credited with writers such as Paul Dehn , George MacDonald Fraser, Christopher Wood and Michael G. Wilson. Mr. Maibaum walked away from his writing assignment on “Licence To Kill” due to the WGA strike of 1988. He also quit his job as Executive Producer of MGM’s television department as a result of the WGA strike of 1960. Even though he was employed as a producer only he left that position in solidarity with his fellow writers and did not want to be put in the position of having to consider hiring non-WGA personnel for the studio. Mr. Maibaum passed away in 1991 but I am sure he would be pounding the pavement, in the rain, if he were still with us today.
We then marched around the lot to Amy Pascal’s office to “say hi and blow kisses” for about 10 minutes before we called it a day.
2x BAFTA Nominated Actress Lelia Gldoni also attended the “Hollywood Homecoming” event in support of the strike….
John mankiewicz is also extremely handsome!
