Because of a crush of web traffic to my site, I’ve fallen way behind in monitoring and approving thousands of comments on different postings. Please accept my sincere apology. I’ll try to remedy the situation today and over the weekend.
Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke - tip her here.

I believe Nikki said that one of the reasons for monitoring the posts was to avoid the unsubstantiated calling out of individuals as potential scabs. I rarely see my comments posted, and I don’t think it’s personal – namely because most of my comments are in praise of Nikki, but don’t necessarily bring anything to the discussion.
And Nikki, you still rock!
As someone who happens to have a blog also, I completely understand about the need to moderate comments. It isn’t about keeping opposing views out of the comments. A good blogger will welcome other viewpoints and the comments on Nikki’s blog show that she welcomes all viewpoints. But it is about keeping spammers from posting their garbage. I know that if I didn’t moderate comments, my blog would be overrun with spam. It’s an absolute necessity these days.
Anyone who hasn’t tried to maintain a quality blog shouldn’t call actual, professional bloggers out for monitoring comments. Even people with personal Xangas get spammed and flamed upon occasion.
Internet users aren’t always going to follow the rules of common courtesy, and sometimes it’s up to site moderators to ensure they do.

Obviously Nikki monitors the comments so you professional posters from Fabrication and Liar-hane don’t fill Each comment section with your crap.

“Monitoring and approving comments is kinda Basic Blog 101 at this point – you have to sort out the puerile and the merely flamey from the controversial-but-intelligent-and-worthwhile.”
Well, as evidenced by some of the responses just on this topic, many of the people that agree are just as immature and inflammatory in their responses as the people who disagree. That’s quite the double standard. People can flame others like 15-year olds, so long as it’s the people the articles are against that are being flamed.
As an example…
