EXCLUSIVE: I’ve just learned from sources that Worldwide Pants’ Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson (the other show owned by David Letterman) is doing a guest-free show tonight. “Since Dave and Craig are the only late night shows that have writers, Craig is devoting the entire show to WGA-produced comedy,” the insider says. “The whole show will consist of all written material, and no guest interviews.” This is Ferguson’s first show back in production since the WGA strike started and the first since Letterman’s company secured its interim agreement from the guild to go back on the air with its writers. This is a big shot in the arm to the writers guild which took the controversial step of allowing some writers to go back to work while others still walk the picket line, a move that has proven somewhat divisive.

Is it true Hilary Clinton will make a surprise guest appearance on Dave’s show? They should be taping right about now. Any east coasters out there that can confirm?
Stellar move. What genius in that office came up with this gem? Let’s not play to our newfound strength and book A-listers for the first time in our history. No, let’s have Fergump mug for an hour. Who is producing this Late Night place-holder?
A very risky move.
The WGA is relying on public perception that there is something very special about a WGA writer.
If there isn’t something very special about tonight’s writing (hard to achieve even without such a short time framework) the front could fail.
At least the viewership of the show is relatively small, in any event.
Good for him, even if no one watches… But the truth is probably closer to he still can’t get any guests on his show cuz no one even knows it exists. Good luck, though, Craig. D.
wow that was awful. is it true the reason why the WWP deal took so long was that the guild demanded Ferguson take comedy lessons? Dave was great and all but, some concessions should not be given up.
