Too bad the skit before Hillary was just a clone of last week's sketch. Click here to see Hillary's "editorial response". And, if you missed it, Obama busts a move -- or two -- on The Ellen Degeneres Show here.
Meanwhile, Leno and Letterman keep making John McCain old age jokes.
THis will not bode well. Perhaps by the time the episode is over, I could be proven wrong and thus my opinion here will be outdated.
Still instead of fawning over political entities, and the like, concertrate on making SNL original and hip again.
Cool, vote Clinton.
Tina Fey’s awesome.
SNL was original and hip last week with Tina Fey.
It was a bullseye moment, as much as it discomfits men and Obama followers.
Lorne Michaels is smart enough to acknowledge it, thus Clinton’s appearance is right on.
You know who would be a perfect Barack Obama? The Rock. I know it’s next to nil that he will appear as Barack but he has the look and the voice of Barack, and they’ve had a famouse non-SNL person do a political impression (John Goodman as Linda Tripp.) He would be a gazillion times better than Mr Armisen.
And as I theorized, the political cold opening bombed again, and HIlary Clinton’s cameo was awful and cheesy.
And I would;ve gladly seen the real Diablo Cody and Michael Cera show up instead of that bomb of a monolague. I never want to see Andy Samberg cross-dress again.
Once again, the lead sketch reamed the MSM for its anti-Hillary bias.
It wasn’t as successful this week as it went on too long & was somewhat vague & missed the targets too often.
But last week’s sketch got enough traction to cause a few outlets to examine their biased coverage of Clinton.
If Obama is the candidate, watch for the MSM to overcorrect itself & go whole hog for McCain.
Plus the Chicago papers are getting fed up with Obama’s total refusal to answer any questions about Rezko’s fundraising work for Obama.
Eventually the MSM is going to pick that up, primarily when McCain’s people start the Republican slime machine going.
It’s always better to get the story out there yourself & do it early!
Unless, of course, that story is far, far worse than we think it may be!
Finally, Saturday Night Live is relevant again.
“Bitch is the New Black”, baby !!!!!!!!

Memo to Seth and Amy (and Tina last week):
Your moment to deflate Obama and lift Hillary passed during the writers’ strike, and there’s no getting it back.
The irony may be that those conservative moguls who forced the strike and prevented you from sideswiping Obama practically every week for the past four months may have tilted the election to the Democrats in November, as Obama is way more electable than Hillary.
The half-hearted attacks on Obama are quite sad. Let’s hope the Dems can get themselves together for the real fight.
Hey I freely admit that I’m 1000% biased here but I loved watching Vincent D’Onofrio pop up in the middle of this skit unexpectedly to take the pace of a comedic sketch that was dragging and killing the funny and by just showing up made all the actors step up their performances…that was a pleasant and fun surprise.
Vincent is way better in comedic performances than he will give himself credit for. So I’m happy to toot the horn for him.
But the SNL cast members shouldn’t have drawn out those first 4 minutes or so without him though…political debates are tedious to watch, long discussion of complex political issues on TV bores most viewers who are accustomed to edits every 2 or 3 seconds and camera shots from all over the place…we got the joke in the first fifteen seconds SNL comedians, you all should, ahem, ‘move on’.
As for my political affiliations I am a life-long independent and believe it is far too early to pick someone to back. Thus I am also largely ignoring skits based on the real-life farce that is the American political campaign process until we get much closer to November.
Besides I can always go to the Internet to quickly brief myself on the ’surviving’ candidates whomever they may be and get informed. That and find old SNL shows which to me will always be funnier than SNL has been in decades.
Tina Fey’s rant pissed me off last week.If that aint the pot calling the kettle black. SNL can’t even be bothered to hire a black actor to play what may be a historic first, a Black President. Boo Hoo, it’s hard out here for a white woman. All those white women being dragged behind trucks in Texas or shot 50 times by the NYPD. And before anyone mentions all the women who are the victims of domestic abuse, which is horrific here and around the world, when was the last time the media paid any attention to a missing black woman or man?
Saturday Night Live would support the “losing” Democratic candidate… the candidate whose strongest support comes from females over the age of 50. This is a perfect indicator of just how “hip” SNL has become. After Tuesday, Hillary Clinton will be out and soon after, all but forgotten. This will finally put the Clinton Dynasty to rest. Then the welcomed McCain/Obama war will rage on in the press.
We loved the opening bit. Brilliant, right on.
Opening sketch so true we laughed out loud.
“Obama Files” segment also so true, they could’ve taken that a bit farther poking fun at WHY Obama keeps closeting Jackson, et al., but still great.
Someone at SNL “gets it.” How refreshing for someone in the media to break with the pack and satirize the obvious.
Meanwhile, Leno and Letterman keep making John McCain old age jokes
I think Letterman better knock off the old age jokes
since it reminds people he looks OLDER than MaCain.
anyone catch the Obama button that Jeff Tweedy was wearing on his guitar strap?
Wow, the ignorance and hate from some of the men on this board regarding the very alive misogyny in this country is astounding.
Won’t even bother to breathe enlightenment and abundant facts into your very dark souls because the vitriol in your rants speaks volumes.
No Obama.
FYI, much as men like to write off women over 50, they’re not going anywhere, and Clinton is not going anywhere irrespective of the nomination.
She is a powerful needed force in the Dem party even if she frightens weak men with her inability to be intimidated.
Lovin’ the smugness that if Clinton isn’t nominated, she’s irrelevant.
She happens to have an enormous following that is not going to automatically line up behind Obama. We’ll never vote Obama or join the Obama cult.
Clinton won key states like CA, NY, MA, NJ and more. And she won up to 45% of votes in other states. Deal with it.
Why oh why did Obama do an exclusive interview with US Weekly?
I saw this at Barnes & Noble this afternoon and had to laugh.
I guess the morons that devour that rag (to catch up on other “important issues” like the state of Britney’s vagina are what make up Obama’s fantatics.
Somehow, I doubt Hilary will go to his depths and do an exclusive for Chainsaw Hooker Monthly.
Old age? I dunno. I think McCain looks remarkably chipper for a man who spent six years being tortured by Jane Fonda’s heroes.
You’d better believe the Clinton camp is 2-waying Janice Min at all times. She’s desperate to get his momentum.
Clinton AND Obama supporters need to understand that sniping over whether women or blacks get the shorter end of the stick in no way addresses who’s wielding the stick in the first place.
The articles I’ve read on HuffPost and other places quoting feminists on Hillary’s fate being related to her gender would have been articles quoting black leaders on how it’s still harder to be a black man in this country than a white woman, had Clinton swept the last 11 primaries. When we’re down to an African-American and a woman, and one has to come in second, there is bound to be righteous indignation from the aggrieved allies of the losing side. MSM relies on it to sell copy and clicks and get eyeballs, and their news reporting needs to be taken with a mine of salt.
IOW, don’t let them sucker you into a “Let’s you two fight while I sit back and watch”.
Obama will make a great president, and Clinton’s influence in the senate will grow significantly, especially with a Democrat in the White House. And were Clinton to the be nominee, I’d have said it the other way around. It’s a win-win, at least as long as Democrats decide they’re not going to try and snag defeat from the jaws of victory.
Obama is half white.
If we’re going to say that the only performers who can portray him have to have the same composition as he has, then I guess SNL is going to have to drag Maya Rudolph away from her baby and back to the show.
“guess the morons that devour that rag (to catch up on other “important issues” like the state of Britney’s vagina are what make up Obama’s fantatics.”
C’mon, Sandy, that’s a pretty stupid statement. It’s one thing to disagree with people who are for Obama, it’s another thing to write them all off as “fanatics” and “morons” who read Us Weekly. It’s also ignoring the facts; polling would indicate that the voters for Obama tend to be more educated. So even though I believe it’s ignorant to generalize and label anyone just because they think differently than you do, “elitist” would be at least more accurate.
Besides, every candidate tries to connect with the average joe through a variety of methods.
@Sandy 6:09
Hollywood rag US Weekly did a butt-kissing interview with Obama.
Meanwhile, US Weekly did a feature belittling Clinton for her fashion sense.
The double standard in this campaign is sickening. Ok to be sexist, but walk on eggshells with Obama so no one can be construed as racist.
As for lampooning fashion and picking on Clinton’s appearance, this is the same tired bag of tricks pulled on powerful women over and over. It is anachronistic. Clinton will not be knocked down by such nonsense and we hope other women take her cue.
Don’t buy US Weekly, Rolling Stone, etc.
Hillary reading from cue cards on SNL… Obama dancing with Ellen… It’ll be a tough choice. Which desperate candidate do I choose??
Sweet lord that was lame. Well at least the bright side is that I watched it within the promotional window and nobody got any residuals off it.
Predictions:
1.) McCain has a heart attack, drops out of the race.
2.) Huckabee wins the GOP nomination, selects Condi Rice as VP.
3.) We “find” Osama, just before the election, securing the win for the Republicans.
Why does this warrant a talkback? I thought this was a show biz site?!
Obama? A great president? Remember those strings on his back are pulled by Daley and Soros.
