There’s flopsweat in Hollywood because showbiz types are getting phone calls from the FBI today telling them they’ll probably be called as witnesses during the Pellicano trial. Just remember, folks, to smile for my photographer outside the Roybal building.

Just remember, it’s illegal to lie to a federal agent, unlike a state or local cop. There are many instances of people getting taken down by this frequently unknown law. One example, Martha Stewart. Often people make seemingly innocuous statements having little or nothing to do with the investigation at hand, subsequently prosecuted/prosecutable by the feds when those statements are able to be proven false. In a Hollywood replete with truth-stretching an element of routine communication, it’d be surprising indeed if no one succumbs.
You’re right, Motionman. It’s the worst time to lie because they may have decrypted more than enough to confirm whatever they ask.
Instead of lie I think people will be motivated to cut deals; deals that will suddenly expose a lot of people who thought this would blow over.
So, it stands to reason there may be another round of arrests of wiretapping helpers from the phone company, police and studios.
