I’m told Joe Adalian is leaving Variety to become a columnist and deputy editor at TV Week. His focus will be analytical stories and bigger picture breaking news. He’ll also launch a blog for TVWeek.com during the summer. Adalian has covered network television for Variety since June 1998. (I’m pretty sure Joe hasn’t forgiven me for scooping him on that Kevin Reilly out, Ben Silverman in, story at NBC which he initially wrote was “false”.)

It takes a big man to admit he’s wrong.
So you won’t get forgiven by Joe….
yah and he’s still a dick.
As someone working “on the inside” of the TV industry for more than 20 years, I can honestly say that Joe is one of the most moral, fair and kind guys in the business. Comments about appearance are uncalled for, and if your experience is that Joe is a dick… it’s probably because you treated him like shit and then flipped out when he didn’t return your call ASAP.
This is a good thing. Joe is still in the biz, and Variety gets new blood.
First James Hibberd from TV Week to Reporter, now Joe Adalian from Variety to TV Week, so…by transitive property, someone from the Reporter now has to go to Variety?
Good for Joe. Shame on Variety for letting him go, but this should put TV Week on the map… big time. I’ve been following his stuff since he was at the New York Post!
Beetle-
Happened months ago! C. Littleton didn’t leave HR while at the top for no good reason.
I’m all for Joe, Ms. Littleton, and Trade reporter, in general. Unlike Nikki, they take way too much shit (mainly from within).
Congrats to Joe!
TV Week? Are you serious? Did anyone tell him that it’s now down to about 30 issues a year and hardly any ads, since Syndication is their bread & butter, and they’ve all stopped advertising except around NATPE and even that’s a far cry from the 90′s heyday. And their website is WAY lame too, and again hardly any ads. The only advantage is that Crain will keep that rag going until Jericho comes back on the air…:-)
Not a good reporter. Very biased, and often wrong. He act wouldn’t fly at a real newspaper Coined the term “emerging consensus is” as a backdoor way to write in his own opinions into news stories.
With his exit, maybe Variety can begin to rehab its shoddy reputation.
Good for him.
