Media Rights Capital, and everyone else, passed on Moonlight for mid-season. The show is dead. Moonlight fans will be singing outside Warner Bros today at noon and again on Friday by the big main gate at 4000 Warner Blvd near Pass street. I’m not sure why but they will be singing.

If you don’t have a Nielsen box your opinion just does not count. They stated that Moonlight did not hold onto Ghost Whisperer’s numbers. By that logic any show that does not hold onto the numbers of the show before it should be cancelled. I think it is all BS. None of it makes sense. Someone out there is working to kill this show or someone associated with it (none of the cast)is impossible to work with..either a total jerk or wanting outlandish amounts of cash.

Moonlight fans LOVE this show! I, myself, wonder how I got so hooked! Moonlight seems magical to me and I am willing to ask (even beg) other venues to pick it up. Remember, it’s not over until the fat vampire sings…
Haven’t you ever been passionate about something or someone? We are a passionate group!
“And nearly three-fourths will mention ’7 MILLION VIEWERS!!!!111!!!’.”
LOL!
The remaining 1/4 will mention the People’s Choice Awards not realizing that it is probably the least credible argument that can be made.
I wonder which Moonlight blog sent its dozen readers to post at DHD repeatedly.
Posted by ‘e’ – “BTW, CBS’s highest rated series, CSI, garners an average of 15 million viewers a week, not 3.5-4 million, as opined by the genius who said “Crap! I don’t understand the business angle of turning down 7-8 million viewers for a network that can’t even garner half of that for their best current hit show. How does that make any sort of sense?”
You don’t make any sense, dear.”
Actually, Genius, (yeah, right) she was referring to CW *supposedly* turning down Moonlight. (GMC may have but CW itself hasn’t). Gossip Girls is the show that averages 3.5-4 million – if that! Does it make a bit more sense now?
Thanks for the update, Nikki.
I hope that the Moonlighters won’t give up that easily, even if it’s just to show support to the show & crew.
To those people making fun of the fans.. well, have you ever felt such passion for anything?
I hope, for everyone, his/her favorite show will never cancelled after only one season!
So, please let Moonlight fans their opinion! And when you don’t like the show, avoid News with “Moonlight” in it. Or is it fun for you, when you run in such news and say “Be quiet people, we know it!”?
Well, that’s my opinion.
Harold – I don’t know how credible the People’s Choice Awards are, but the key word here is “People”, aka fans, viewers, the ones without whom the networks wouldn’t be in business in the first place. Our opinion should count for something in the network’s decision making process – even those of us without a Nielsen Box.
“e”
I don’t have a dog in this, but why are you so venomous over people liking a tv show.
And the other commenter is not your “dear”
Don’t count “Moonlight” out just yet. There are many people working very hard to get the show picked up somewhere for a second season. The people singing at WB are doing so because they believe what we all do – that “Moonlight” got a raw deal from CBS and needs to find a network that will welcome it and its 8 million or so loyal, money-spending fans. Wait ’til next week, when there are a couple hundred of us in LA for MoonlightCon 2008!
“Wait ’til next week, when there are a couple hundred of us in LA for MoonlightCon 2008!”
I’m sure that’ll be a (sad) sight to see…
“Moonlight fans will be singing outside Warner Bros today at noon and again on Friday by the big main gate at 4000 Warner Blvd near Pass street.”
Well, four people can always do ‘Barbershop.’
Know that not only people from the US are angry about this.
We cannot go and sing in WB, but we’ll do as much as possible from where we are!!
Tv shows need watcher to exist. let’s go and show them how many we are.
good luck!

I don’t understand the misdirected hate ppl seem to have to others who are doing nothing to them.
What do it matter to you if ppl want to rally for their show? How is it affecting you? did a Moonlight fan come by your house and blast the Moonlight soundtrack on your front lawn from a blaring boombox at 2 in the morning?
Did a Moonligth fan personally email YOU with pleas and threats?
I guess it’s just some people nature to want to hate victims.
Yeah, I said it, What?
CBS made a mistake and so did CW. This is the very reason why television is boring. 9000 CSI, 8000 Law and Orders, 50 million crime dramas, as if they aren’t all recycling the same crap. 30 million law dramas all featuring the same kind of cases. 101 billion lame comedies that really don’t stand out.
The only shows good shows on tv were Moonlight, blood ties and ARE supernatureal, reaper, nip/tuck on occassion smallville. Also the damn Simpsons! oh and Family guy.
“They would have had a 7-8 millions viewers with Moonlight… it’s more than anything they will ever had!!”
Totally uninformed comment. Moonlight was actually drawing a good 2-3 million (or more) fewer viewers than the also-cancelled Close to Home did last year in the exact same timeslot, also on CBS. And CBS just cancelled shows with substantially higher ratings than Moonlight (Shark, for instance). Moonlight drew fairly bad numbers and was among the LOWEST rated shows on the network. Hardly “more than anything they will ever had” (LOL).
Comment by Vinnie Vegas — May 16, 2008 @ 4:25 pm about Moonlight fans singing outside Warner Bros:
“Well, four people can always do ‘Barbershop.’”
Ha! They didn’t even have enough for that. They had three people on Thursday.
As in 1, 2, 3. Of the “seven million passionate viewers” they claim, only three in L.A. participated in their event at Warner’s.
Three! LOL!
Unfortunately, the same nincompoops who cancelled Moonlight on CBS are the same douches calling the shots for The CW. Yes, it would’ve been the CW’s highest-rated show BY A WIDE MARGIN. Why was Dawn so attracted to an already-dead 7th Heaven’s finale audience of 7-mil, but couldn’t support an up-and-coming (and People’s Choice award-winning) series which averaged nearly 8-mil PER WEEK?? Mind-boggling.
Why does she have a job, exactly?
“I guess it’s just some people nature to want to hate victims.”
LMAO, you people have truly become delusional! You dare to call yourselves victims? A network cancelling a show you liked does not in any way compare to people who have been subject to some true hardships in life, and quite frankly it’s insulting to label yourselves that way.
They’re tearing down the sets on Tuesday. The show’s done, it wasn’t that great, Joel Silver’s got a lot more crap to worry about than this DEAD SHOW, deal with it!
why would they do this finally a a show 8 mil viewers like and also not a reality show…hope they bring this back…seriously
8 million people is a lots of people. and this is probably why cw cannot get a regular audience to watch. you start liking something and there they go cancelling it if it does not work for a second… by principle waiting …is a good virtue
“Moonlight fans will be singing outside Warner Bros today at noon and again on Friday by the big main gate at 4000 Warner Blvd near Pass street. I’m not sure why but they will be singing.”
It’s time for me to do a little singing of my own:
na na na na
na na na na
hey hey hey
GOODBYE
Interesting non-support Moonlight article you have here. Reading the comments almost got me upset….but TRUE Moonlight fans came to the rescue and set the record straight. Moonlight is NOT just a show that got canceled….it is a force to be reckoned with. We will NOT fade away and we will NOT go quietly into the night…..because the night BELONGS TO MOONLIGHT!
Shocking. This show was nothing more than a poor attempt to copy Angel.
Ok, enough. I’m tired of reading through this and seeing people claim that Moonlight is a copy of *Blank* show, so I’m going to adress a couple of them:
Forever Knight: I watched this show on summertime reruns years ago. I like it, it was decent, but not amazing. It’s cheesy and very fake looking, and NOT AT ALL like Moonlight. As someone who has seen both shows, I know that I for one, hadn’t even seen a comparison until i read someone point it out. The vampire lore is completely different from Forever Knight to Moonlight. Moonlight has better characters, plots, and overall composition. Forever Knight fans, it’s one thing to reccommend the show to Moonlight fans, it’s another to try and shove it down their throats. Try a different approach.
Angel: Hmm, I’m not even sure how to begin this one. How on Earth can anyone even begin to think that Moonlight was copying Angel??! I never saw Mick take on demons, I never saw Mick run an evil law firm. I never saw Angel walk around in the sun (without any spells, or special rings, or stripped vampire status.) I never saw Angel do much actual investigation himself, his team did most of it (which btw Mick didn’t have a ‘team’, so there’s another difference.) I never saw Angel working hand-in-hand with a reporter.
Like it or not, Moonlight was unique. Quit trying to accuse it of copying other shows, because it wasnt.
“Like it or not, Moonlight was unique.”
Awful in it’s own “unique” way, I agree. And thanks for outlining how superior those other shows were to this travesty.
I have just discovered that there is not going to be another series of Moonlight. I am really disappointed as I look forward to the weekly episode. Surely there is some company who will pick up the reins and continue this series?
