Hollywood is mourning the loss of this lovely and elegant actress-dancer. I once attended a private dinner party where, in an impromptu performance, Henry Mancini played piano while Cyd and her husband Tony Martin sang. Fabulous...

Crying shame, I send my condolences to her family and friends.
Sad news. I just saw her in The Silencers a few days ago. Horrible movie, and she was wearing one of the most hideous outfits I’ve ever seen onscreen…but you could still tell what an amazingly talented dancer she was.
oh damn. these recent losses are cutting close to the bone. how sad.
Ms. Charisse thank you for so many great moments of joy. R.I.P.
Singin’ in the Rain & Brigadoon. Need we say more…?
What a terrifically talented woman. R.I.P.
What a tragic loss. Her brief performance in Singin’ in the Rain is still one of the sexiest performances caught on film.
Very sad news.
She and husbamd Tony Martin celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past May.
R.I.P Cyd Charisse
Saw Cyd Charisse and Tony Martin at a reception a few years back…so classy and courteous, the two of them. Sad news.
Cyd Charisse represented classic feminine beauty and elegance – she was by all accounts just as classy and gracious in real life as she was captivating on screen. She and her husband Mr Martin were among the last of a glamorous but dying breed – iconic “Old Hollywood.”
When I saw the news on tv this morning, I could not stop crying. I have been a cyd charisse fan since 1965. I am now 68 years old, and never missed a cyd film. I have collected all her available films on video and dvd, and signed books. I adore that wonderful talented lady. She was beautiful, elegant, and kind. I met her when she was appearing in London in 1986. I will miss her very much, and her thousands of fans will too. rest in peace beautifl lady.
I am so saddened by the passing of Cyd Charisse. She was truly the best dancer on film. She could do everything with perfection.
My heart goes out to her family and friends.
My sincere condolences to the family and friends. With the passing of Ms. Charisse an Icon of the western entertainement world is no more. She was a great lady and one of my favorites.
Charlie
cyd was truly one of the mgm greats… r.i.p. honey
truely a memorable dancer and beauty. one of the greats
She was the real deal. A stunning technical expertise and precision in her dance movements, which, I feel outdid both Ginger Rogers and Ann Miller , even though I did adore both Rogers and Miller just as much.
I knew someone who was close to Cyd, and felt Cyd and Tony had one of Hollywood’s happiest marriages. She smiled every day, and she really had no ego, or vanity whatsoever, which, clearly, is rare for Hollywood, obviously. Then again to be married 60 years……..incredible !!!!
We have lost yet another entertainment legend. Cyd Charisse was nothing less than genuine Hollywood royalty. She was irresistably beautiful, elegant and talented. It’s hard to select my favorite number she did from her MGM musicals, they were all so special. She was incredibly sensual in the two Broadway Ballet segments of “Singin in the Rain.” To this day, those numbers are still as electifying. My other favorite is the “Baby You Knock Me Out Number” from “It’s Always Fair Weather” where Cyd was surrounded by all those hunks. I also cherish her brief but memorable segment in 1994’s “That’s Entertainment III” where she intoduced a tribute to Gene Kelly. You can instantly see the undiminished glamour and class she still possessed even then at 72. God Bless You, Cyd. And thank you.
