I’M GEEKING OUT HERE!
Sorry, I’ll calm down.
Seeing the preview and all the other snippets, reports, and rumours from the set, I am both excited and worried about Watchmen the movie. It could be the coolest comic book movie since the last comic book movie, or it could be a complete disaster because the film could only be made 23 years after it changed the comics industry.
I’m wishing it well, I was a big fan of the book.
I saw the trailer and didn’t really know what to make of it. It certainly didn’t make me wanna see it. I had no clue as to what was going on. My disaster vibe senses were tingling.
I’m with you on that. I think there are exactly two sorts of people in this world. One, people who read Watchmen then, fifteen or twenty years ago, and are excited beyond belief at the movie coming out now. And the rest of us, who either didn’t read the book or read it in not-our-teens and wonder (now) what all the fuss is about.
I say this as someone who actually didn’t much mind V FOR VENDETTA (suprise!) and FROM HELL–but…
…WATCHMEN is going to be awful. I’m with the author Alan Moore on this one, I wish it had never been finally given the greenlight.
Zach Snyder couldn’t direct his way out of a paper bag. I will never understand what people saw in 300, which was a loud, boring, xenophobic, ugly turd of a film from a source which wasn’t good to begin with. And his remake of Romero’s DAWN OF THE DEAD wasn’t much better.
Even when Paul Greengrass and David Hayter were doing it before Paramount dropped the ball with them, I wasn’t hopeful. Now I have no hope. And the teaser was everything I feared: the same slo-mo every 10 seconds “fapfapfap” filmmaking taken to even more absurd levels.
I wonder if the public will even vindicate this one at the box office, or if they’ve dumbed it down to the point where the typical 18-34 year olds will consume it like pap anyhow…
that’s funny – my awesome vibe sense were tingling
me thinks big great and rad

So Guy, you are one of few who digs V FOR VENDETTA!!
I do think it was an excellent movie with the plot like nothing ever out there. Completely blew my mind when I first saw it and still the same feeling after repeat viewings
Why is that I get this feeling that Paramount days are numbered? With so many stinkers they have produced, maybe it’s time for a change at the top.
I can’t imagine it being worse than LXG.
Snyder directed an offensive and plain ol’ bad film: “300.” ‘nough said. And if you still have doubts about whether or not “Watchmen” will be bad: just take a look at the casting job they did on it. All the actors look like they just came out “The O.C.” Ridiculous.
By the way MCU, I read the book when it came out, and I am thinking: “what the hell is this hoopla about?” (particularly after watching the worrisome trailer).
Guy Fawkes,
That fact that you like “V for Vendetta” invalidates any and all film criticism you may have. That movie was a mess from the ground up. You obviously like stinky movies and hate good ones.
I’m not saying “300″ or “Dawn of the Dead” were “Citizen Cane” but they were fun, visually exciting, fairly well acted (considering what they were) popcorn movies. Same could not be said for either “From Hell” or “V for Vendetta”.
But hey, tomato – toMAto.
I also think Guy is an idiot. I love classics like “Citizen Cane”, The Gawdfather”, 2001:A Space Oddisi” and many others. You can plainly see I know what I am talking about.
Anyone who didn;t like the “300″ is in the definite minority…All you have to do is look at the numbers (or take your own random sample of people)…Likewise “Dawn of the Dead”…Looks like the “Watchmen” could be the best!! And Guy Fawkes, please get a life!!!You are so far off base, when I see your name on a blog, I automatically go to the next one without bothering to read yours….Take it for what it will be-a great movie!!!, Best, EdS.
Very cool pictures of the Nite Owl’s ship.
I am tentatively looking forward to the Watchmen movie, but I am really disappointed in most of the casting. It looks like Rorschach, the Comedian and Dr. Manhattan might be the only ones they got right (and Dr. Manhattan’s CG/mocap for most of it, so it’s hard to screw that up). Judging from the trailer, the rest of the cast looks REALLY young compared to how old their characters are supposed to be looking. I guess they’re trying to pop some sex appeal into this story but it kind of messes it up for me.
