My photographer Jim Stevenson went around to local Los Angeles theaters snapping pictures of The Dark Knight fans dressed up in their Batman and Joker best. You gotta love these dedicated fanboys turning out in droves for their fave pic.
And a proud father just sent me this pic of his 6-year-old son Ethan MacRae in line for the 12:45AM show:

Get a life, people!
Not on my list to see this week or the next, the promos completely turned me off, depressing to see Heath…RIP Kid and I am off to see Mama Mia today. I am sure its a good maybe great film just not my taste.
In a DC suburb last night, they kept adding more screens, somewhere between 8-10, all of them showing this picture. Some glitches with the system, it took an extra 10 minutes to even show the previews, but… wow.
As an aside, it wasn’t all fanboy. I caught the midnight opening of 300 at the same cinema, I believe on three screens, but the demand kinda took the company by surprise, so popcorn lines went slow.
This movie had girls watching too.
Love the nuke the fridge shirts.
Those nukethefridge.com tshirts rock. Where can I get one?
Dressing up as a character from a movie you haven’t seen yet is overly optimistic, don’t you think?
Bringing a six year old to this (and a midnight show, no less)? Nice job, hope you can afford the therapy the little runt will need…
In the top photo, they look more like the Insane Clown Posse than the Joker. Juggalos!
So sensitive Milo..did your parents not spend enough time with you when you were little? So sad for you. I think it’s great people dress up and have a little fun. Some people are way too serious!
I’m sorry, but I have to side with Milo on this one. It is debatable whether a six year old should see this film, but certainly not at a midnight screening. Six year old should be in bed at that time.
BF, you need to learn to read better. I didn’t say anything about dressing up. Just about bringing a six year old to a movie this dark and scary (and since I know you’ll misinterpreting that, let me clarify that that’s NOT a complaint about the movie).
And that’s not being too serious, it’s really NOT good for little kids to see movies intended for adults. And this one is definitely aimed at a mature audience.
Hey! It’s a free country: Their body, their choice you totalitarian runts.
Didn’t realize they let out John Wayne Gacy.
Milo:
If this movie is aimed at adults, why are there “Dark Knight” Batman toys in every toy store in America? Shouldn’t WB have held up a bit on promoting this to 5 to 8 year old kids? Yes, it’s a free country. But isn’t it also the responsibility of major corporations to keep adult material “adult”? What’s so different about this than Camel Cigarettes making cartoon “Camels” for their ads?
I havent seen the movie yet, but isn’t it PG 13? And hey it’s summertime.
I agree it is a free country. Let parents raise kids the way they want. There are way more worse things to worry about than a 6 year old seeing Batman at midnight.
We’re off topic anyways, this is all about Batman fans!
Mama What?
Every time I see the annoying advertising for that movie I MUTE it…..
who are you saying get a life to “william shatner?”
and by the way, the movie was fantastic- didn’t know how i was going to feel with the whole heath thing, but he gave one of the greatest performances i’ve ever seen an actor give. i don’t know who in their right mind would rather see “mama mia” than batman- talk about being turned off by promos- meryl streep singing abba?
by the way, people dress up for fun- so stop trying to ruin it
Bob:
Terribly naive of you to think corporations are going to be responsible when selling their products. Why do they sell kids toys for an adult movie? Because they **CAN** and it makes them MONEY. Duh.
Morals, ethics and responsibilities died out years ago.
Who would rather so Mama Mia than TDK…ME, batmanfan, its called choice, my choice not yours and my mind is really right, I don’t care that YOU don’t wanna see Mama Mia, why do you care that I don’t want to see TDK?
“Get a life”?
When Shatner first said that to Star Trek fans, he forgot that he *had* a life because of the fans. Who bought the tickets that allowed him to star in all those films?
And, remember, the people who will work on the third film (and mostly likely a fourth because of this one’s box office), they too will have a life. Or at least some paychecks working in a profession they love.
But, please, feel free to demean those who provide us with our paychecks.
dark night=best movie ever made
“Shouldn’t WB have held up a bit on promoting this to 5 to 8 year old kids?”
Well, yeah. It IS PG-13, meaning it’s intended for kids over 13. Check my math for me, but SIX isn’t THIRTEEN, is it? (and how does “it’s summertime!” somehow make it OK for little kids to watch things they can’t handle?) Not to mention that many many reviews have pointed out that this movie is a particularly harsh PG-13, and arguably could have deserved an R.
And yeah, it’s a free country. Meaning while parents are free do a lousy job raising their kids, I’m free to point out the bad job they’re doing. I don’t really care what people watch, but it pisses me off to no end when parents bring little kids to adult movies (not the least of which is because the invariably end up talking and crying the whole way through and ruining it for everyone else – quit being selfish and hire a damn babysitter already). Parents need to get their heads out of their ass and figure out that maybe they are playing a part in their kids ending up with emotional and psychological problems, and struggling in school (and yeah, generally the kids watching stuff that is inappropriate are the ones with the problems).
MILO,ITS BATMAN last time i checked they have a batman cartoon on cartoon network. the movie wasnt even bad.
YAWN. SHEEP.
Great post, milo.
In previous generations, boys were driven to become mature adult men. Today, you have a country full of 30 year olds who never mature past the age of 12.
