Just came back from a meeting to find that Sony Pictures Entertainment has promoted Tommy Gargotta to president of worldwide creative advertising, replacing Josh Goldstine who’ll now work on a few Columbia titles a year as a senior creative exec. Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke - tip her here.

well that’s a low blow. In other words, Josh, your days are numbered and it’s time to look for another job. Guess he’s worn out his welcome after soo many years. That’s typical….
I have worked with Josh, and found him to be creative, smart, opened, and tireless. His devotion to SONY has been astounding. Tommy is good, too, but I find he leans more toward the male oriented pictures than the female. So does Val Van Galder. So does Amy Pascal. Therein lies the reason for Josh’s demise.
Sad. They don’t so much fire you at SONY. Rather they let you go out with a whimper. That way Amy doesn’t look bad. Which is what it’s all about really. Protecting, (your friend Nikki) Amy.
Josh -anyone would be lucky to have ye.
I think Josh is brilliant. He really knows his stuff. Just wait and see the campaign he is overseeing for 2012. Ground-breaking.
