Yes, the show jumped the shark last season (sorry to say, but it’s true — unless of course Ari Gold starts screaming about “that bitch at Deadline Hollywood Daily” at which point I’ll claim this is the best series ever…). Yet Hollywood still finds something to laugh at weekly in HBO’s Entourage which returns for its 5th season September 7th. So now Fox mogul Tom Rothman and NBC mogul about to go-go Ben Silverman will appear in cameos this fall as well as ABC’s The View and film critics Richard Roeper and Michael Phillips. Now exactly whose idea is that edgy viewing? Unless, of course, Ben is partaking of weed or worse on air.

Entourage Rules
Kinda figures. There is something really odd about NBC programming honchos feeling the need to perform. Zucker got to cuss and posture on ‘Fat Actress’ so Silverman’s desire for exposure isn’t a surprise. They should just stay in their offices and at least attempt to save NBC from it’s continual decline into obscurity.
Never mind – its’ probably too late anyway.
Entourage is about as real a representation of LA and the industry as Sex in the City was about NYC.
There’s a lot of anger here about this show.
I think you need to hug it out bitches.
The show’s doing well for hbo. Scripted tv (what’s left of it) needs all the help it can get. Don’t hate. Moving on.
Entourage = major suckitude.
the writing is poor, the stories are lame (my GF has her period, i can’t have sex with her..??) is that supposed to be good? I’m sorry, did we wander into a freshman boy locker room? I think those jokes wouldn’t even be funny to freshman guys any more.
this show is so over rated and yet, Piv still gets laid…
And Ben Silverman must do a lot of coke. He’s a hollywood cliche just like entourage is.
i’m sorry, but i’m not going to not say a scripted show is bad just because it’s scripted. the show is unfunny and lame!
Entourage is life style porn for men aged 18-35. Simple as that.
This is a show about LA life made by people in LA for people that live in the back of beyond on a farm in Ohio or somewhere miles and miles from LA and showbiz in every aspect.
A friend of mine spoke to a certain rising young actor a few years ago and he joked that his life must be just like Entourage and with a heavy voice the young actor replied “….I wish.”
In short, I love Entourage. It’s fantasy and self indulgent. Really there is nothing like settling down, having a beer and just indulging in a few episodes.
People in La don’t like Entourage because it is a true depiction of how New Yorker Mark Wahlberg owned all the lightweights in LA like kids in a candy store always remembering to only trust his east coast crew.
It doesn’t surprise me that many of the same lightweights profess to not like the show while they predictably boost it’s rating by never missing it. The same way Vince’s New York Jedi Mind trick just seems like a lack of effort when he is in control from the start.
WHen Johnny Dram thanks God and does the Viking Quest “Victory” It is classic. I cry every time. LA is entourage and if you hadn’t notice New Yorkers have always run it and always pissed off the locals with how easy it is for them.
Entourage is true. So of course you guys hate it.
Mark Wahlberg is from Dorchester, Massachusetts.
These comments are great. The show is about friendship. People who don’t like it take it too seriously or don’t have friends.
So Boston also Owns LA , Thanx for the correction.
Boston New york, DC And Philly. Every player knows who to trust. You local LA gangbanger want to be surfers just keep talking and remember to beg when you ask the banks in New York to finance you.
The show is about loyalty. That’s why these guys run around like kids in a candy store. They are grounded in their friendship from the low balling and backsatbbing and all the while have an advantage that their competition never does. They KNOW they can trust their frineds. LA style is talk nice and stab in the back later. East coast protects it”s friends.
Besides Arnold owns Mexican sound stages so he is just watching production leave and doing nothing. Typical Californian
Entourage is cool.
And working in the film and tv business; more indie feature projects than anything else…all the crazies and situations on the show are pretty much true to form.
If you don’t think crazed egos, insecurities, etc., aren’t the truth in Hollywood…then you’re just desperate for your next check…and love the spotlight more than doing the actual work.
But…being from the midwest and a working class family, much like Wahlberg himself being from the east and a working class family himself…we understand the whole deal.
And can only laugh about it.
And just keep on working.
“DVD sales? Check out Amazon, it’s barely in the top 20.”
Wow. Ok. Most would kill to be in the top 20 in Amazon sales of anything. And that’s an example of how it sucks?
btw, for those of you interested in etymology: “Jumping the Shark” must refer to the later years of “Happy Days” when Fonzie ski jumped over a shark in his leather jacket. I think it’s a little premature to say “entourage” has sunk to this level, though they do have some work to do…
Che Guevara was a revolutionary hero.Pablo Escobar was a crazed greed animal that had women and children killed for the sake of making money from drug trafficking. There is no comparison in the men or the movies.
Is it safe to say HBO’s Entourage has “Nuked the Fridge?”
Seems to me, one of those guys that lives out back in the woods, that most of the carping in these comments is coming from frustrated Hollywood wannbe’s that can’t get that big break. It’s a TV show for goodness sakes. It’s not Edward R. Morrow interviewing Mahatma Ghandi. It’s a quirky show with some relevancy to the industry, but by no means intended to be a documentary. Relax, enjoy the occasional naked hottie and take it for what it is; 30 minutes of respite from an otherwise dreary world.
