After 13 years at the Hollywood flackery ID, publicist Ina Treciokas is starting her own agency. What's unusual is that there was a joint announcement this AM in which ID founder Kelly Bush called the departing senior EVP one of her best friends. And now one of her competitors. (Go figure.)
Treciokas issued the usual platitudes, while Bush, who met Treciokas when they both worked for Susan Geller years ago, said "she has my full support in her exciting new endeavor." Treciokas' clients include Sarah Jessica Parker, Mike Myers, Katie Holmes and Owen Wilson. One publicist working for a rival firm emailed me, "It seems like she is leaving at a time when Kelly is expanding the company into other more lucrative revenue streams, like brand representation and management, while Ina enjoys actual client representation." Bush, who founded the 60-employee company repping hundreds of A-listers and up-and-comers, is indeed expanding into brands (Tiffany & Co and Kiehl's) and entertainment companies (Atlas and Mandate). However, she manages just one client -- Juno's Ellen Page. Her long-time PR clients include Natalie Portman, Ben Stiller, Ellen DeGeneres, and Tobey Maguire. ID is one of the largest independently owned and operated Hollywood flackeries while most of the big boys are conglomerate owned.

Carl Icahn Now Wants ALL Of Lionsgate
Kelly “announcing” this is a desperate attempt at saving face. This has to be killing her as her business just took a major hit. Maybe she should stop worrying about managing clients and get bak to focusing on PR for her shrinking client roster.
Is it possible that a successful woman in this industry is actually being supportive of another successful woman in this industry? Stranger things have happened. I think.
Or perhaps – just perhaps – this is an example of someone in Hollywood understanding that people take different paths, and valuing friendship over the bottom line?
Doubtful, sure – but what the hell, lets throw it out there…
I agree with the “save face” comment- To me it sounds like Kelly and Ina made a deal that Kelly would do the announcing because if Ina would have done the announcing Kelly would have been too embarrassed.
It’s sad that Kelly stole Ina’s Thunder. Ina’s departure from ID-PR severely impacts their client base. Ina also reps Hugh Laurie, Owen Wilson, etc.
What’s really nice- is that Susan Geller has not restarted a publicity company. Susan Geller was awful to work with and I hope she continues to stay away
from the business of Hollywood.
ina was one of the worst, absolute worst horrid people i have ever come into contact with…it seemed to me that she didnt enjoy her job – she was just so miserable – maybe something to do with conan dumping her years ago? who knows, she’s just an awful, awful hateful person.
i wish her luck though.
I sooooo agree with Zod. Ina never smiled, never said a thank you to anyone and was downright rude to everyone on staff. She never read any of her emails and then blamed every staff person when things were not the way she wanted. (Had she ever bothered to read anything that was sent to her, everyone would have complied with her demands just to not have to deal with her sour demeanor.) I’ve witnessed her screaming like a banshee and turning red with fury more times than I cared to see. She was a terrible rep for her clients in that she made them all seem completely unresonable and diva (which I’m pretty sure was more her than them.)Kelly has nothing to worry about…they will go back to ID-PR since I’m pretty sure Ina has burned many studio relationships and most will do bare minimum for her and her clients. The only way clients would stay with her would be if they are jerks since the fact that she was so hateful makes anyone look like an angel. Maybe she’ll fall and be out of the business for good. One less hateful personal publicist to deal with and make the job unnecessarily difficult. But that is just my opinion.
See you later Ina. You will not be missed.
Wow–the last two people writing are clearly ID PR staffers. And that just makes me sad that when someone tries to leave you want to make them look bad. Why can’t you just wish another, very successful person well. Not everyone’s styles are similar but I know ina treciokas professionally and she is an honest, filled with integrity human being who cares deeply about her clients. Why turn this into something ugly. It make you seem small and petty.
Time will tell. If Ina’s clients follow her it will speak volumes… In the meantime, I agree that it is refreshing to see friends part ways amicably…
each to his own. With Ina, you got the true professional who represented her clients fully and completely. I can assure you, i would know.
Best of luck, Ina. And I hope you take your young protege, Matt Walker, with you. Whatever “edge” you may present to some, he is a great balance.
What a team that will be!
It is about time that Ina left the agency. She is one of the most dedicated publicist working today in the business. I have never seen a PR flack these days care as much about her clients as she does. ID PR used to have a wonderful reputation for helping to build people’s careers. However it now seems like a factory these days. Kelly’s reputation speaks for itself. Ina and Mara are the only two ethical partners in the agency. The firm is now just full of very junior publicists with huge egos and little to back them up. I am sure Ina will be able to create for herself and her clients a nurturing and honest boutique agency that is very much needed in the business.
I work at I/D and I know the few mean comments are from bitchy little girls, most likely in the NY office at the firm.
The saving face comment is dead on as agents at WMA feel screwed over by I/D and have told other agencies and managers to stay sharp and watch their backs.
Also, if the person “witnessed” this and then wrote about it instead of discussing it and fixing it in the ….. system. Now the caddy girls at that office will all have a good laugh tomorrow which shows how ugly they really are…
Don’t get me wrong there are a few great people at I/D, but not many and those few are probably now considering departure as well.
Maybe now she can invest in a blackberry? maybe respond to some emails?
please tell me someone at ID offered to make matt walker a full blown publicist. He deserves it. That kid has been her smartest decision over the past few years.
Ina is an amazing woman who deserves continued success.
She represents her clients with class and intelligence.
She lived and breathed Sex and the City with Sarah
and does so with all her cients.
She is focused on what matters – her personal clients.
I would not underestimate her – she is one of the best.
congratulations Ina
I worked for Ina and Kelly some ten years ago at their tiny office on Melrose when the company was a total of six people…it was the best intro to the business I could imagine, with both of them being incredibly informative and supportive. Kelly and Ina both took the time to meet with me about my long-term career goals, sharing what each wanted for themselves and how they planned to get it. I was honest with them and they helped me on my way to the area of the industry where I became successful. Twice since then they’ve been good about giving me helpful advice even when it did nothing for them. I’m not surprised they’ve veered into different paths – and wish both all the best. We could use more women like them in Hollywood.
Really? You work at ID? I don’t buy it for a second as anyone who has ever worked for the company knows there is no / between the I and D. It may sound trite, but no legit employee would make that mistake.
It seems you are just trying to stir shit up that you don’t really understand nor have firsthand knowledge of, and clearly, failing to do so with any authority.
Also – in the spirit of learning something new every day – you should know a caddy is someone who carries golf clubs…
What was up with IDPR taking out an ad in the trades for their emmy nominations? I’ve never seen a PR firm do that.
You work at “I/D?” Nice try! If the odd spelling didn’t give you and the other trolls away, something else would have. Neither of the woman in question would employ the kind of people who sit around spewing venomous gossiping about their jobs in the comments sections of blogs all day.
ID is a unique agency and Ina is a wonderful, dedicated, talented publicist.
I wish her the absolute best.
I work at a studio. Ina was incredibly rude and, frankly, reflected badly on the client she was representing. Perhaps it’s par for the course with personal publicists, but it seemed like she made the (typical?) mistake of confusing herself with the actual talent. I hope I don’t have to deal with her again, but alas I’m sure I will.
For the record – there once was a / between the I and the D. It just hasn’t been that way for several years. In the transition from Kelly Bush Public Relations, Kelly offered a bonus to anyone who could come up with a name for the new larger company. For better or worse, Ina was the one that actually suggested ID – and the logo was designed with the /. For months afterwards, people had the misconception that the “I” stood for Ina and the “D” for David (Lust), with people thinking Kelly had somehow divested herself (which was FAR from the case). Can’t tell you exactly when the / was dropped, but it was there. Thus endeth the history lesson.
expubasst, Um, no. It was a / between the D and P. The firm was originally called in ID/PR. It was never I/D.
HAHAHAHAHAH LOL this was really entertaining. FYI Matt is going with her congrats to both of them!
