The actress/singer/businesswoman has spent time at every major Hollywood talent agency, sometimes more than once. But I'm told that UTA board member Tracey Jacobs has just signed J-Lo in film and television with the focus on restarting her dormant acting career (after she had twins). J-Lo is prepping to start two films in the fall: one is Love And Other Impossible Pursuits directed by Don Roos that Marc Platt is producing along with Lopez's production company Nuyorican (with partner Simon Fields). The other is The Governess from the Yari film group and J-Lo's Nuyorican. In TV, Nuyorican just sold a project to ABC based on J-Lo's successful pic Maid In Manhattan and is soon starting production on the tween/teen Latina series Amiga Sweet 15 for the Disney Channel. UTA helped start J-Lo in acting by putting her in Selena and Steven Soderbergh's Out Of Sight. Since then, she's been at CAA, ICM, Endeavor, and William Morris.

JLo seems to be one of those creatives who thinks it’s ‘all them’ when it comes to their success, never realizing that there’s behind the scenes types (like her agents) that do alot of the hard work too. Perhaps she’s realized that that IS true about herself in reverse?
Evidently you people care, that are saying “who care’s”, cause you are reading this so it must mean you are interested. So don’t be talking sh**t about Jennifer Lopez, cause she has always been on top and always has done quality work. The main reason she goes to many agencies is because she like to try one new things, places, and agencies. I wish Jen the best in all this that she is doing. Cause she will “DO IT WELL”.
well hopefully they will find her great projects à la “Selena” and “Out of sight” she’s a good actress who makes mostly bad movies.
i would’t call them a second rate agency wome of their client inclued Harrison Ford, Gwen Stefani, and Johnny Depp.

Regardless of where she is I wish J Lo the best. There are not too many of her age (30-40) and type (Latino)doing movies right now, so I hope her new agents can find a niche for her!

a) UTA is not a second rate agency. It’s one of the best on the planet.
b) She signed with Tracey Jacobs. “Nuf said. Tracey is one of the smartest people in the business, and has some of the most diverse and unique taste out there. Yes, Johnny Depp is one of the greatest actors ever, but she has helped him choose AMAZING role after AMAZING role – and she should be commended for that. You don’t get to be a board member at a major without being a top notch representative.
I think working with someone like that is exactly what J-Lo’s career needs. It’s one thing to be a tabloid star, but it’s another thing to be an actor, and Tracey and UTA are going to be a welcome addition to J-Lo’s team.

I know for a fact that Tracey Jacobs just fucked one of her higher paid clients thanks to palming her work off to Shani Rosenzweig which lost said client a big lead role, something he hasn’t had in about ten years. So much for UTA being one of the best in the biz. They fuck their clients every day. No wonder most have left in disgust and are badmouthing their previous clients from dusk til dawn.
See Francine, this just shows you have no idea what you’re talking about. Shani is another one of the best agents out there. Great taste, reads everything, works her *ss off. You shouldn’t open your mouth about things you don’t know about.
Sleemans, is that why Emile Hirsch among others have dumped Shani’s ass? She’s a liar and only interested in making more and more money for herself rather than giving a shit about her client’s careers. Yeah, Shani’s great. *rolls eyes* Quit drinking the UTA koolaid and check out what’s left of their sorry client list. The fact that they’re taking on Jennifer Lopez shows how low they’ve been forced to stoop. Who’s going to be their next big “get”? David Spade?
She had Emile for years and took him from a nobody and made him a household name. He’s had an amazing last few years and it was in LARGE part due to her great taste in material.
He left UTA after Speed Racer didn’t open, and if you’re a representative, you know that movie was a slam dunk to put your client in. A Wachowski brothers film that Joel Silver produced? Are you honestly telling me you wouldn’t want your client starring in that? I’m sure something happened behind the scenes that neither you or I know about because we’re not on the inside of that place.
Bottom line is, while CAA and Endeavor may have made most of the big name signs lately, UTA is one of the greatest agency’s in history, and it still is to date. That is not something that is debatable Francine.
