The Hollywood talent manager’s friends tell me that she was going to a party in Malibu last night when she was struck and thrown by a passing automobile on Pacific Coast Highway. “She is at UCLA hospital in critical condition but hopefully stabilizing. The doctors said she’s a real fighter and in great physical shape so they’re optimistic,” a pal tells me. I’ve long known and admired Joan, the CEO of Hyler Management, which is why I’m posting this.
Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke - tip her here.

Not sure if she has her still but certainly Joan handled Portia since her turn on Ally McBeal, they are close nevertheless, how sad to hear this, I hope she will be ok.

Darling Joanie – You helped me years ago at William Morris and were a wonderful friend – and helped me again just a few months ago, as you clearly help writers and actors all the time. You are the greatest Jewish Mother our business has ever had! If only there was something we could do to help you right now – I am heartsick, and hoping you heal well and without too much suffering.
Much love, Tracie
My thoughts and prayers also go with Joan and her loved ones.
Everyone is so saddened by this terrible news. Does someone know Joan’s Hebrew name ? Lots of love and prayers …
All the way back to your New York days, your spiritual side has gotten you through whatever was daunting.
It will again.
Love
Martyn

I heard Joan speak at a function a few years ago and was very impressed with her personality and relatability. Wishing her a speedy recovery.
You can get updates on Joan’s condition by going to UCLA’s update site http://www.carepages.com and search under Joan Hyler. Her family has been incredible with keeping people informed.

Joan and I were cheerleaders together in our former ‘small town Ohio’ lives. She was a fireball then and obviously still is. Terrible way to reunite but glad to have finally caught up with her after all these years.

Joan,
I am so sorry to hear about your accident. I had talked with Jeff F. several months ago and he told me you had been in an accident. He was going to get back to me with your information but he has not done that to date. You have always been a strong person and I know you will get through this. I have been attempting to get as many MHS people here on the west coast together from time to time. I hope to hear from you soon and to see you when we can get together. I believe the last time we talked at any length was 1963. How time flies! Be good, take care, and God’s speedy recovery for you.
