What a shocker. People who worked with this incredibly talented TV and film crossover comedian are reeling after he died in a Chicago hospital early today from complications due to pneumonia. Said Oceans Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen co-star George Clooney through a publicist: ”The world just got a little less funny. He will be dearly missed.” Bernie Mac was only 50 years old. A publicist says the Emmy and Golden Globe nominated actor suffered from the inflammatory lung disease sarcoidosis but it had gone into remission in 2005. Mac also had memorable co-starring roles in Bad Santa, Guess Who, Mr. 3000, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle and Transformers. But he was best known for starring in and producing his Fox television series The Bernie Mac Show which aired from 2001 to 2006. This past truncated pilot season due to the Hollywood writers strike, he was starring in/producing another TV offering to Fox, Starting Under, from Bruce Helford and Warner Bros. What a sad day to lose this comedy original.

Bernie, was a true comic, with the perfect formula to make an audience roar. He was such a down to earth guy, a devoted husband and father. He showed us that no matter where you come from, anybody with a dream and determination can surely make it. I’m so glad that he got a chance to make it to the top….Love you “Mac Man”!

I was shocked and so deeply saddened this morning when I heard this news. Though this is someone that I would never meet, he touched me everyday with his humor. I watch his show each night in syndication, and I can recall when the show first aired, I thought it was truly the funniest thing I have seen on tv in a very long time. Since, I have become a huge fan. The world has lost a comedic legend. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. He will be missed.
I smoked a cigar with bernie just a few months ago…what a class act the man was.

Rest in Peace, Bernie! I have not always been a fan, but over the last three years, I saw a different side him and I became a real fan! I loved him in “Guess Who”! I know that the critics were not kind, but I laughed my butt off! I thought he and Ashton Kutcher had good chemistry! I was overwhelmed when I read the news is morning! It’s still hard to believe that he’s gone! God bless his family in this time of sorrow!

He was a funny man, and enjoyed making people laugh. He was so young, too young to die. That’s how it is with lung diseases/disorders.

I heard the news of B~mac this morning! I couldn’t believe it. Bernie was a great entertainer and he just showed many that no matter where you come from you can make it.

I am deeply sadden by the death of Bernie Mac and my heart goes out to his family. When I contracted scaroidosis in 2004 and learned he had it too, I began to follow his career. I also have been in remission since 2005 and it is hard for me to believe that his recent bout with pneumonia did not contribute to his passing. I take a pneumonia shot to protect me from getting pneumonia because my lungs were so severely damaged by scaroidosis. God Bless You Bernie Mac!
I love you Bernie Mac. You helped me thru some horrible times. My family is having financial problems and everything that comes with everyday life. I could count on you Bernie to forget my problems every week night from 12 to 1 am. You seemed like part of my family. I will think of you every night at midnight and pray for you. I will miss you. I am so sure that you are making God laugh. God Bless You Bernie Mac….

Nobody knew “the man” was gone. The world did not even get to say goodbye. I did not want to believe it. I was at work and couldn’t cry. When you lose someone so suddenly before you think it’s their time…it gets harder for me to deal with every time. We love you Bernie, and we’ll miss you. You were irreplaceable.

I thank God for allowing us to have Bernie for as long as we did. The world was a lot funnier for it. I also thank God Bernie was allowed to leave his mark in the hearts of all of us. We are all much better off by knowing him than we would have been if we had not. Bernie, light up the heavens with laughter like only you can. We love you, and you will be missed.
