EXCLUSIVE: That’s what my sources are telling me about the talented though underutilized actor/director/writer who is still at the tenpercentery but perhaps not for much longer. (What a crazy agency day. So much news!) One very reliable insider just emailed me to clarify Tim Robbins’ current status at CAA: “Your information is incredibly accurate and incredibly early. He hasn’t fired them yet. I was surprised to read it in your column, but in a few days you’ll be able to say ‘Toldja!’” Unless of course your early warning spurns them into action… Though from what I hear there’re a lot of holes to be plugged up at that place.”

CAA = Cancer Actors Abandon
They must be playing Iron Butterfly’s Inna Gadda Da Vida because this game of musical agents doesn’t seem to be ending.
Tim Robbins is a REAL talent. Not a manufactured one. It’s one thing to lose Amanda Bynes it’s another thing to lose Tim Robbins. Uh ohhhhh
If George Clooney or Tom Cruise were leaving CAA then to me that would be big news- but Tim Robbins- eh- who cares ! Nikki I’d much rather hear your comments about bigger issues — ie- Beijing faking the Olympics’ opening ceremony fireworks — or Nikki I’d much rather see you spending your time today on furthering the Dreamworks News— Re- Tim Robbins- eh-let him go- he’s no big loss to CAA
I beg to differ with Tv writer (of course, given the moniker I now understand his point of view better), but I wouldn’t minimize losing a talent like TIM ROBBINS. The guy was in one of ten best movies of all time, plus he directed one of the best movies I’ve ever seen.
Tom Cruise is on the skids and George Clooney can only play super cool liberal who makes movies no one sees for only so long.
No agency can afford to lose talent, but I would suggest that TV Writer broadens his way of thinking. Like you Nikki, I’m plugged into the MOVIE business, and I agree this is big news. Also when talent of his calibur leaves an agencey – OTHERS FOLLOW.
ICM has been after him for awhile ………………….
Actually Tim Robbins is a big deal. He is a multi million dollar actor who has been at CAA for a long time. His departure news is very relevant as he is one of many actors and clients that have left CAA in the past couple of months. For the first time in a while, CAA is seeing clients leave to go to UTA, Endeavor, and William Morris. As Nikki reports, its not just actors, but its happening from all areas of the agency. The fact is that those CAA guys are just lazy, and for the first time the clients are realizing that they can get better service at the other agencies. Tim was smart and ahead of the curve. I hope he doesnt fall for the old “save” meeting that CAA is so famous for. You know the one for Lourd, Lovett, Huvane, and O’Connor sit in the room and tell him that they will be his agent. Everyone knows that bullshit. Hopefully Tim will see through that as well.
Rowena must be pooping her pants
Tim’s made a lot of bad and weird movies over his career with a good one about every five years or so. He seems to like goofy comedies and fantasy films. He needs a good agent to steer him away from films like Howard the Duck, and more towards mainstream films like Top Gun.
Tim Robbins is a talent guy — but in the greater scheme of things, he’s “small potatoes.”
when you think of tim robbins, the first two movies that come to mind are howard the duck and top gun?
