So CNBC’s Maria Bartiromo did a quickie interview with Ben Silverman yesterday and shilled shamelessly about the “7 straight weeks” that NBC has beaten the other networks ratings wise. Unfortunately neither she nor Ben bothered to point out that there was no competition to speak of during that time. So NBC can beat dead air. Big fuckin’ deal. Nor was there any mention that, on Monday’s opening night of the 2008-2009 TV season, both CBS and ABC kicked the primetime crap out of NBC’s returning Heroes. Toldja that NBC’s schedule this season was going to stink.

I just love you Nikki. You always bring a smile to my day.
Well at least Silverman showed up for the interview.
That’s at least a step in the right direction.
Also 30 Rock is the longest running / lowest rated primetime show in history, I believe.
I don’t believe that any primetime show that has ever run as long with ratings as low as it has.
NBC’s got nuthin’. ‘The Office’ got tired last year and, despite the hype, the promo ads during The Olympics revealed how totally bankrupt the 2008-09 season will be. “Must See Thursday” is now just a memory.
CNBC has competition itself to face: Fox Business which picked up former Cnbc Anchor Liz Claman. But Bill O’Reilly has been raking the peacock network with his facts that NBC news has lost in the ratings. Thier left wing idealogues have poisoned thier network. MSNBC is trying to be the left wing version of Fox which will only drive more viewers away. But NBC is now knowned as the OBAMA network becouse of thier journalists love for Barack Obama. But Anchor Maria Bartoromo doesn’t deserve to be decieved by her own network. She’s a fine journalist.
I like CNBC over NBC. I find the financial journalists entertaining. My fav reporters are Becky Quick and Michelle Carosu Caberra. But CNBC is up against Fox Business and Blommberg Television. I’m not ruling out the creation of 4th business network.
And the Olympics were a gimme.
Did Maria join Ben on the company plane like her last trip coming back from Davos, Switzerland with her “freind” from Citigroup. How did she keep her job. I guess she”s loyal to the Pee Cock. Bring on Erin Burnet.
Proof that secretly reading deadline hollywood daily on a blackberry while pretending to listen to your lunch mtng can be bad for your health and startle others, that line was hilarious I almost choked on my ice tea
Did you know that Maria Bartaromo is known as the “money honey”? I don’t how she got the nickname but last year she generated a conflict of interest with the a VP at Citigroup. He divorced his wife I last read.
Apart watching Christian Slater being his “Own Worst Enemy” (even if the pitch and the promos leave me skeptical), the only item of interest of NBC’s Fall schedule from my side of the ocean is… Knight Rider. Yep, the stuff cremated by critics…
Not seen the ratings yet but at least Gary Scott Thompson should be given credit for his understanding of what popular light entertainment must be on a Network. The real question is: should Networks go on sticking to fiction or move to full-time game shows and Real TV, and leave cable deliver elaborated story arcs, acting exercises in subtlety and sex + a little blood.
When I was younger CBS offered one of the most sophisticated show of the 80-90′s, Wiseguy. Such a show would be on cable today.
Can we say Money, money, money….That’s what makes the big world go round.
When did we move so far to the left that we are embracing Socialism? Don’t we like making money; i.e. homes, cars, vacations, etc? Oh, is that cruel to say that some of us actually work for money? Could I have just sat out on my lawn and waited for the money to arrive all this time? I’m so happy to hear that there are so many actors with too much money and they will be sharing their money and homes with us when we don’t have anything but rubble to perch on. I’m glad we have those two brain cells in California sparking intelligent thought for the rest of us in middle, ignorant America. It hurts so much to think for ourselves. Hmm, I am still puzzled at how Babs, Matt and friends will continue to make money to support those of us that can’t seem to think as brilliantly as they do. What happens when we little people can’t afford their genius works of art (that’s movies to us dumdums)? I know, we’ll ask those hundreds of fabulously wealthy Russian movie stars (excuse me, artists) from the good old days how they did it. Having to support all of those millions of people that just didn’t have. If we have no stock market, we have no money to borrow into the negatives for all those Obama saving the world plans. I finally figured out why Hollywood loves him so. He can read the lines as well as they can. Except, they forgot to ask, what job will they have if he gets to read ALL the lines in this drama? What’s the saying, “those that can, do. Those that can’t, act?” or so it should be. Have a nice day and remember, we have nothing to post, if we have nothing.
Where are the Feds? Shouldn’t they be investigating a self serving executive like Silverman who acquires 10 series from his own company then sells it to Lizzy Murdoch and pockets 60 mill?
Ben Silverman= BS…he pulled one over on Zuker all right.
Seems like Zucker LOVEs what Benji’s doing. When you try to change the world, you generally do come under direct fire.
