I’m told it was a very amicable and mutual decision since she’s been dividing her time between Los Angeles and Aspen (as well as her beloved Africa). After being mentored in the movie biz by director Mike Nichols, Luttrell joined ICM in 1983 when it bought her agency, Robinson/Luttrell and Associates. “Why it worked as long as it did dates back to her early agent years when Martha’s relationships with artists were bonded both professionally and personally,” one longtime pal tells me. “Somehow Martha was able to keep those kinds of relationships going within the structure of a large company. She also demonstrated that an agent could be in business with people over the course of their careers.” Her friends tell me that as committed as she was to her career, she was never consumed by it – and as much time as she found for the movie industry she also found time to enjoy the things that engaged her personally like her great passion for Africa and its national parks.
ICM Chairman/CEO Jeff Berg said in a statement: “We have tremendous respect for Martha and what she has accomplished for the agency and her clients. After working with her for so many years, she will be greatly missed.” Noted Luttrell: “My years at ICM have been extremely rewarding. I have loved my work, and I thank Jeff and my colleagues for being so supportive of my desire to retire. According to ICM, her clients including Susan Sarandon, Judy Davis, Sam Shepard, and Stephen Rea will remain at the agency.
Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke - tip her here.

Wow, that was fast. We just were informed a few minutes ago.
Another one bites the dust. I remember her saying, in regards to clients, “In the end they all leave you.” Fare thee well. Classy,Old School Charmer. But did she leave on her own accord, or is this ageism ICM style?? Oh,no wait-they just opened the floodgates by admitting to wrongdoing in a lawsuit. There’s no way they would do that again…..Hmmm. What the old lack in youth they make up in cunning.
wow. does ICM have any agents left who can talk to star actors and directors ?
It was always a pleasure dealing with Martha. Professional and classy. I wish her well in her “retirement”.
no they do not
Martha is one classy broad.
Good luck in the future.
Well you don’t exactly have to consult a career counselor to realize jumping and pulling the parachute before the ICM jumbo jet flies into the side of the mountain is an excellent move career-wise.
Are there any decent agents LEFT at ICM anymore? Oops, that’s an obvious “no”. I meant…are there any AGENTS left at ICM any more? Last I heard they were all looking to run to the hills once their contracts expired.
ICM cut Martha’s salary a few years ago and she went into partial retirement. Martha is of the old guard, an agent with connections. The new ICM Motion Picture strategy is to hire agents without client lists. We’ll see how long her clients remain at the agency.
I met her once as an intern to a publicist at a junket and she was kind to me even then. It’s great to see someone who can leave it on the court and enjoy retirement.
Martha Luttrell was one of the few good agents at ICM. She was a real person and never bought into the corporate culture, she was unique.
Good luck Martha
Commenting late as I am, I would only like to add my note to say that Martha is a genuinely kind and decent person. That she worked in an environment which bred such wicked and back-biting people only made her personal goodness stand out even more. I wish her well. Thank you, Martha for being kind to me at a very difficult time in my life.
I was a temp with Martha in the 90′s.
What a wonderful person.
supportive.
real.
classy.
great.
thank you, Martha.
I won’t give up on it!
