Scott Rudin confirmed to me Monday night that it is his email describing Harvey Weinstein’s alleged callous treatment of the late Anthony Minghella’s and the deceased Sydney Pollack’s families. Rudin also claimed to me that HW’s people all day pestered him ”to protect Harvey and deny the email and lie to Page Six” — so he told me he did “in order to keep peace for the next weeks that the two of us still have to work together on The Reader.” See my previous, Harvey Weinstein’s Offer I Can’t Refuse… and Harvey Weinstein vs The Film World.
Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke - tip her here.

Grown men acting like children. Harvey – donate the $1 million to one of Paul Newman’s charities. He had class, unlike most of what’s left in Hollywood.
I absolutely agree with Pathetic.
I’m sorry to say, Nikki, that offering a million bucks to charity to make good some bad behavior is a regular ploy by Harvey. I know personally two people whom he has promised that to. He never paid. Classy guy.
When you are bad in one lifetime, you don’t die and go to hell…you come back as Harvey Weinstein.
Does he need finishing school or anger management? Harvey Weinstein gets away with this shit because he is consistently rewarded with accolades for his work, but not shown up for the disgusting excesses he indulges in to get the job done. Badgering Sydney Pollack on his cancer deathbed is beyind the pale, even for someone with his volcanic persuasiveness. Please keep on this story, Nikki.
Nikki Finke you da man yo! Seriously, perhaps with the publicity of PageSix, that fat bastard will actually have to make good on a “promise”
True words indeed, Pathetic.
Hell maybe we should be glad IGOR flopped.
MAN-BOYS GONE WILD!!!
I am stunned by this article and these accusations!! “Callous treatment”? In Hollywood??? What is becoming of our precious little business? I am not dissing Nikki here AT ALL but reporting that people in Hollywood are assholes is like reporting that attorneys lack heart. Of course they do, they can’t change and who cares?
I was at WMA during 9 freakin’ 11. Morning of. During the most horrific attack/tragedy on American soil I was busy calming an Endeavor agent who was pissed the Madonna concert was cancelled and the HUGE concern was how the Hell we were going to FedEx scripts is those damn airplanes were grounded?!?! For the record…I will NEVER forget an email Steve Dontanville sent out company-wide. To paraphrase, he was not working this day and he was disgusted by anyone attempting to do so during this tragedy. That sent QUITE a message. We closed 45 minutes after Steve’s email was sent. A very rare act of TRUE CLASS in Hollywood…
How does admitting that the email was true “keep the peace” exactly?
I wonder if Weinstein is having that Mr. Burns moment when it sinks in that people aren’t afraid of him anymore. I mean there was a time when he could bully his way in and out of any situation and let his company’s commercial and critical success be his deodorant.
Well, the deodorant stick’s all used up, he’s pissed off too many people, and the chickens have not only come home to roost, but to drop a few rotten eggs as well.
Grown men acting like children?
That’s a great description of the entertainment industry.
High school with money is another one.
It’s a forgone conclusion, there’s some jerks in this business, but Pathetic and Gentle Eye… what makes you think it’s any BETTER in any other business? Or have you not been watching CNN lately?
It irritates me to no end that whenever there’s an instance of douchedom, those who haven’t waded very far into the hollywood community immediately damn them everyone in L.A. as “classless”.
I’ve met a lot of fantastic people in this industry, but they don’t need to advertise their compassion and decency… aka, class.
hw and sr deserve each other. . . both disgusting and not to be trusted, it would seem – indiscreet, injudicious and inhotwater. . .hey, harv, how’s that project runway move to lifetime going?
Nikki –
What can I say? You are the shit! Bravo!
I am completely taken by surprise by the greedy, petulant, and childish behavior in this business.
J.R. — touche.
I really hate Harvey Weinstein. Ever since he forced Paltow on us, and used coersion and graft to get her that Oscar he’s been on my person s**tlist.
His fall is spectacular. Oh and that new Tarantino movie that he’s doing with *snicker* box office winner *guffaw* Brad Pitt? That will bomb spectacularly as well, and then it will be…sayonara Harvey.
Well, as an observer of the film business, it’s been my “observation” that Mr. Weinstein will salvage (not savage) his reputation by pulling yet another Oscar caliber film out of his hat(e).
The business rewards talent + results. It doesn’t really care if you mangle people to get there.
Next year, H’wood will have forgiven Mr. Weinstein if he delivers another critically acclaimed film that gets Oscar attention.
Badgering Sydney Pollack on his deathbed is scummy, even for Harvey. I hope when he is reincarnated he comes back as an anal cyst.
gooooooooooooood
