What a miserable two weeks dealing with illness and personal stuff, so I’m thrilled to start working again. Many thanks for your hundreds of best wishes. So nice to know DHD was missed. I’ll be making my way through all those great tips you sent in: I’m reading each one and following up. (Your anonymity always paramount…) Keep them coming. And, when I get up to speed, DHD will have lots of exclusives to unveil…
Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke - tip her here.

Shouldn’t that read, “Your anonymity always, Paramount.”
So sorry you were ill. Hope you are feeling better. Really enjoy your wit and observations!
h.
missed you so much! we’re soo addicted and I can’t wait for the next fix.
Welcome back Nikki. I’m an insider with great information. How do I know that you won’t give you tippers away? That always worries me.
NIKKI!!! God, what horrible withdrawals I have for the last two weeks, too. So glad your back! So start dealin’ the dirt!
Great to have you back, and better to hear that you’re doing well.
Maybe this will ease my withdrawal symptoms.
Welcome back! Now about those talks with the mediator….can’t believe that no one has any clue as to what is going on in there. With so many lives on the line it’s also hard to believe the one week gaps are needed between talks with him. Let’s get on with it!
Damn straight you were missed – DHD is better than Variety and THR combined; real news here without all the slanted fluff of the other sites.
Glad to know you’re doing better.
damn, we missed you. please please get well. life in hollywood is so boring without repeated dhd refreshes.
Hope you are taking excellent care of yourself…I fear both the entertainment business and the worldwide economy are in for some rough sledding for the forseeable future so it’s important to us all that you stay as healthy and focused as you can…and you are missed when you are not around
Glad you’re better, Nikki. Take care of yourself.
Nikki – you were INSANELY missed. It might seem like old news but what the hell happened on “Single with Parents”??????
Welcome back. Sorry to hear that you were ill, but I am guessing it was more likely due to the crap that Nick Counter is giving you. In any case, glad you are feeling better.
To Transpo, the mediator has to sort through tons of information regarding the labor issues with AMPTP and SAG. Those meetings with SAG and AMPTP weren’t just a total of two hours. He met with each group all day long and is most likely creating grounds for a fresh proposal between the two organizations. These negoations take time and I would be surprised if SAG and the AMPTP agreed in principle to a new contract before Thanksgiving though Christmas isn’t out of the question if the AMPTP is willing to listen and allow the stalemate to end.
In short, Nikki will report any movement, or lack of, on negotiations when it happens. Had some labor news broke during her break, Nikki would have likely posted that news on the blog. I am guessing that this was likely a working break as she has been collecting exclusives for us to read.
Jessy – It takes two to tango, and don’t fool yourself – the stalemate it as much SAG’s fault as the AMPTP. The ultimaum is AMPTP’S final offer, but SAG’s terrible neg team strategy is as much to blame.
For Gods sake I hope they can get back on track and settle before Christmas as some of us actually make our living solely in the industry.

Hope you are really feeling better, Nikki. You are very sorely missed when not around. Take care!
SAG is to blame, but there is no rule saying that they have to take that “final offer.” Besides, it is SAG that is willing to negotiate, but the AMPTP refuses to do so. Frankly any stalemate that we are going through right now isn’t SAG’s fault. But they are to blame because leadership and at large membership spent time fighting AFTRA on their contract situation and some things could have been done differently.
That is the same with the writers strike. Had the WGA known how important the January-Feburary award shows are to AMPTP members, I am sure that they would have put off the strike until January 2nd at the most while working the last two months of 2007 without a contract.
Hope you are feeling better and continue to recover. One story/post request — Michael Crichton’s recent passing.
Great to have you back, Nikki. I, like the others here, missed the hell outta you.
