UPDATES: I’m hearing from tipsters that one of Hollywood’s top flacks there is also leaving. But I keep getting denials from PMK/HBH brass…
Here are the names of the flacks whom PMK/HBH let go today: Craig Bankey had some notable clients, but Jennifer Holiner (veteran from the NY office), Andy Snyder and Karen Oberman (both there less than a year) mostly serviced existing clients. [UPDATE: I also hear they let go a freelance sports publicist out of Chicago.] “None are part of our senior management,” an insider tells me. “As you know, the economy is forcing everyone to make tough decisions and we didn’t make these without a lot of consideration. Given that, the agency remains extremely healthy. We are more diversified than ever and we feel we are well positioned for continued growth.”

They’re making a mistake with Craig Bankey, he’s a classy guy with good clients. I’m certain he’ll be fine and land somewhere else, but still.
I have worked with Karen Oberman and with Jennifer Holiner for quite some time. Both are very seasoned publicists and it is a shame that they both had to take the fall. Both Karen and Jen will land on their feet in no time and I can’t wait to start working with them again. Shame on PMK-HBH for losing Karen and Jen.
Bankey is a class act. I was an intern there and he treated me with kindness and respect that a number of the other assistants didn’t even afford me. Sure his clients aren’t the biggest stars but they are classy actors who attract other actors. Sometimes the bottom line is not the best way to make these choices.
Jennifer is a good one. She’ll get snapped up. Craig is a good guy too.
Both Holiner and Snyder are sweethearts, pros and, from what I heard, pretty good (not great) signers. Odd choices for NY. Don’t know the LA office, but I heard good things about Bankey. Times must be TOUGH! Are the other big firms laying off?

Agree with all of the wonderful things said about Craig Bankey. He is a class act. A talent magnet. Someone will snatch him up and be delighted by his work ethic and taste. Everyone adores Craig.

every time i see the words “pmk/hbh” i think about the time Kingsley unceremoniously canned Leslee Dart b/c she dared to think she could run an agency…and i laugh, and laugh, and laugh.
the company is so bloated…it churns a lot of work and i’m sure collects but except for the corporate stuff (which, albeit, is a cash cow) i find there is little sophistication to the rep they provide..

It seems as though Craig Bankey keeps posting things up here to make him sound good. Facts are he is not fun nor easy nor smart to deal with. He gets fired all the time by clients and he kinda creeps people people out. Karma is a bitch and it caught up with Bankey yet again…

the facts are the assistants handle the clients and Pat K is somewhere mourning the loss of Cruise! The place is a dinosaur! Really do they answer emails, walk clients or advise clients on pr. The biggest scam in Hollywood ! Personal publicists so wrong!
PMK/HBH trades on it’s name alone. And to say they are experiencing growth as they are letting people go is just another way of saying, “we’re gonna work everyone who stays even harder, thus doing less for each client.” Bottom line is that P and M and K and H and B and H all want to keep THEIR hefty partner checks coming.
I’ve worked with Jen and Craig for years and have always found them to be pleasant, honest and professional. It’s amazing how in this industry, the turds seem to fail upward, while decent people get the shaft.
Actually, it’s the PMK part of the deal that’s failed. Steven Huvane and Robin Baum still hold a grasp on huge major talent. Just look on whorepresents.com. Simon may be lazy, but he’s bringing in mucho corporate dollars. And yes, of course he’s a liar.
The PMK part of the deal has faltered big time. Pat Kinglsey is washed up and her ego got in the way.
To the post above by Kristin – Craig Bankey is one of dying breed of true gentlemen left in Hollywood. As a former coworker of his, I can only say that Craig is truly a rarity in this business. He is warm and kind and also an amazing publicist who people respond to positively – a class act through and through. There is no doubt that he’ll be snatched up by one of the other major firms.
A few years ago, William Morris tried to hire Robin Baum as an agent, but even despite being fed up with montsters like Russell Crowe, she couldn’t bring herself to join that group of losers.
