Summit Entertainment will be running the pic in 3,386 theaters and has arranged with the major theater circuits for Thursday midnight or Friday morning shows. As of noon ET today, Twilight has already sold out 389 performances at MovieTickets.com, including more than 140 this past weekend alone. Four days prior to its release, Twilight is already No. 20 on MovieTickets' Top-20 Pre-Sale List of All-Time. The pic has accounted for 85% of tickets sold on the site today. Meanwhile, Warner Bros is using Twilight to debut its new Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince trailer which aired first on the net this weekend. You may recall that Potter vacated the November 21st release date which Twilight grabbed.
'TWILIGHT' ZONE: Fans Camp Out Day Before Premiere; Is $60M Wkd Possible?
Go. Away. Twilight. Please.
All I know is that this better make it easier for me to sell my 4 year old vampire screenplay. I think the stories are similar. Does “Twilight” have any disembowelments?
i don’t understand why this movie and it’s fans seems to be annoying so many readers who post on this site. it is movie that that has loyal teen fanbase because of the book. its not the first time this has happened and won’t be the last. as with most movies if you won’t want to see it don’t. nikki is just doing her job by giving the updates since it will be a film that does reasonable well this year.
I really hope Bolt will kick Twilight’s ass. I doubt it’ll happen, but hey, one can dream, right?
Besides, Walt Disney Feature Animation (or Walt Disney Animation Studios as it’s called now) could use a big hit. They’ve been totally overshadowed by Pixar.
My god, who cares about “Twilight?” Certainly not your readers (I doubt that teen girls read DHD or Drudge).
Why not write about how phenomenal, emotional, and powerful “Slumdog Millionaire” is? A movie that puts crapola like “Twilight” and nearly every other American movie to shame.
Twilight: An affront to healthy relationships and literacy.
Response from those outside the target audience (single women):
Yawn.
Not likely. Next film is already green-lit.
That HP&HBP trailer has been kicking around the Net for months … I first saw it online when the release was scheduled for November.
I just want to know if peggy’s screenplay is four years old, or if it’s about a four year old vampire…
You hoes are just jealous.
I think a $34 million opening for this would be a very generous estimate. It is hard to imagine more than $10k per theater for the weekend. $25 million still feels about right. I still don’t think it will bring in more than Bolt.
I don’t think you even need to wait for the second weekend to see declines for this. It would not surprise me at all that Saturday is less than Friday.
Let’s be honest. This is no Harry Potter. It’s not even close. You can’t claim that a series that has sold an impressive 17 million books is the successor to one that has sold an almost unimaginable 400 million.
Nikki is covering this because it will be the biggest movie of the year!
Unless you have teenage kids you cannot hope to understand the excitment that this event is generating. My daughter has been counting the days for months.
Biggest movie of the year? Yeah, right. You honestly think this will make more money than The Dark Knight? Boy, you fangirls are even more delusional than I thought. This is not the new Titanic. Heck, this is not even the new Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter.
Let me break it down for you. This will have a big opening weekend because of all you fangirls flocking to it. And then it will have a huge second weekend drop, because you fangirls have all seen it and because no one else has any interest in seeing it. You think guys want to see this movie? They’ll probably be forced to see this movie because their girlfriends want to see it. But apart from that, forget about it. Still, it’ll make a nice profit.
Response from THIS non-tweener, single woman: Yaaaaaawn.
Just bring on the Jonas Brothers in 3-D, please.
ok!!
i can do that!!
