MGM/Sony’s Quantum Of Solace goes into this weekend with an overseas total of $272.9M. In North America, it finished Week One at $82.1M (vs $63.2M for Casino Royale, so +30%). That makes its new worldwide number $355M. Yowza!

That’s great and all – but I hope the next Bond is more traditional: gunbarrel opening, Bond theme, longer and more layered, with a three-dimensional villain, closer to ON HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE than TOMORROW NEVER DIES.

I loved what Forster did with the series. He actually did something…dare I say it…DIFFERENT. Kudos to all involved with this incredible action picture.

DC is the Bond that he was supposed to be.
