Gee golly gosh, Jeff Zucker and Ben Silverman keep telling the media they’re doing a swell job. I’m told NBC now will forgo the last four episodes of Knight Rider and is shutting down at a total 18. This must be a new network primetime record for failure.

Why is Jeff Zucker not out of a job yet? For that matter, why is Ben Silverman not out of a job? And why is Teri Weinberg not out of a job?
It makes no sense to me. There is something… cosmically surreal about all this, like a dream I once had after too much peyote and ice cream. My only question now is, where is the singing kangaroo?
Hmmm… barring the absolutely atrocious quality of Knight Rider XP edition, I somehow don’t think that is what pulled the plug on it. Nor the ratings. I believe that reason is currently on its way in a hybrid or another to Washington D.C. to ask for a lot of money, somewhere in the vicinity of 9 billion dollars.
If I remember correctly, Ben Silverman had that “awesome” idea to essentially do a show mostly sponsored by Ford. And I don’t think that money is flowing anymore as probably somebody made a phone call to NBC and said: “Listen, we need to show those evil communist senators and congressmen that we are responsible with money, and sorry, Ben, there is no way that this show will help us sell cars”
Do I have proof for that? No, of course not.
But the fact that just a few weeks ago they wanted to pick up the back nine… and the announcement of this news now… come exactly at a time where this is the most logical explanation. It is somewhat similar to GM ending their endorsment deal with Tiger Woods.
What’s the buzz on “KINGS”, the show NBC ordered to series before the pilot was done shooting? It’s going to take over ER’s Thursday night timeslot. Anyone know if it’s supposed to be any good or not?

Yeah…right. So if you want to compare the two, show me Zucker’s equivalent at NBC of six years of continued economic growth after the single worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil almost toppled the economy; 10 million new jobs created, and seven years kept safe from any new terrorist attack (and if you’re dumb enough to bring up today’s economy — look no further than the Dems who ran Fannie and Freddie into the ground; the Dems who forced us to finance high-risk mortgages for people who could never pay them off; and a Dem-controlled Congress for the last two years).
Right.
Every day I thank my lucky stars that a couple of years ago Law & Order: Criminal Intent was booted off of NBC and onto USA Network.
Granted we’d all like to know exactly when Season 8 CI episodes are going to start airing (according to our newest cast member Jeff Goldblum that should be sometime in March of 2009 but since the conclusion of the WGA strike the powers that be at all networks broadcast & cable have been lousy at letting anyone know when something is going to air so it’s not like USA Network is particularly bad at this) but we at least know we’re getting an eighth season and that Jeff & Ben have little chance of f’ing around with the show anymore.
For all of you who try to regularly watch shows on NBC though I am truly sorry for your plight. If a dump Jeff & Ben grassroots campaign gets going, let me know and I’ll come help you
What makes me angry with all the shows they made so horribly and have now had to cancel, is that they can cancelled one really great show and one that it seemed had a great following from last season… Journeyman was just unbelievably well written and Moonlight, which I didn’t love but it was better and more innovative then what has been on this season.
If Zucker is the Bush of Uni, then Silverman must be the one overseeing New Orleans, “heck of a job, Silvy”
Isn’t there a board of directors at Universal? If so, why aren’t they looking at these two guys with all their incompetent decisions (how many shows have failed this year?) and pulling a Donald Trump “you’re fired”?
On a related note, ABC tried to kill it’s daytime lineup with incomprehensible plots, terrible terrible writing and shallow actor choices but it’s still hanging on. I’m convinced that ABC and NBC are run by people who hate TV and want to kill it as thoroughly as possible. There is literally no other explanation.
Andrew, I don’t know if Universal has a BoD anymore, but Jeff Zucker has a boss named Jeffrey Immelt, who ought to wander down to Rockefeller Center from Connecticut and start busting some heads.
The show was doing rather well in the ratings until it was forced to take a break for political advertising. It still has the capability to gain back that loss with its upcoming retooling. I for one enjoy the show and I’m not going to give up hope just yet. I can’t really blame Ben Silverman, ratings are down on shows across the board. Rosie’s show faired no better in its attempts at Knight’s timeslot.
(It’s ironic Nikki that you also have an article about the sad state the Weinsten’s are in as they are the company in which the fate of the Knight Rider movie is sitting in.)

Hey I know let’s take a cheesy show that was funny because it was so bad and recycle it. Now can I be an NBC programming god too? I have a second idea, since the re-make of Couplings went so well, let’s get some more English programs and Americanize them. Do I get a bonus now?

i mean yea it coulda used a little work…
but all in all it quickly became one of my favorite shows.
i am soo sad that its ending.
