I couldn’t be happier for Slumdog! While everyone else was getting their fill of Bond and Twilight, I saw this film twice and loved it, been telling everyone I know to see it too!
How in the world did Heath Ledger not win anything?
Haskell and Sarris? I was sure that prize was going to Ben Lyons and Ben Mankiewicz!
The only movie I saw or intend to see was Dark Night. The rest who cares.
I was surprised at how good Changeling is.
Can’t wait to see Slumdog Millionaire. I’ve heard so many good things about it.
I agree with Josh. Ledger’s performance is one of the best I’ve seen period; let alone in 2008. It pretty ridiculous how he didn’t get an honor…
Josh Brolin!
Burn After Reading was a terrible film, even worse than No Country For Old Men, and that’s saying something.
And how can the Best Film not be one of the Top 10 Films, unless they meant Films 2 thru 11???
Clint Eastwood? I just saw Grand Torino — it was a racist retired Dirty Harry in disguise. Just awful. And I’m a big Eastwood fan.
Why do people who can’t correctly spell the titles of Dark Knight or Gran Torino think anyone would care about their opinions on either film ?
I found Changeling to be mediocre. Good in the first 45 and then it petered out…too long.
It’s as if Zucker “Supersized” a Law & Order episode set in the late Depression Era.
Is that like improperly adding a space between the last word of your question and the question mark? It’s called a mistake — get over it.
I’m also surprised at “Burn After Reading” making the list. Star-struck, I guess…
DH – Slumdog doesn’t appear in top 10 just like Mongol didn’t make Top 5 foreign. Go figure.
I was hoping that Let the Right One In would make Best Foreign Film.
Let the Right One In isn’t allowed to go wider even though people are raving about it left and right, it should have the best word-of-mouth. I guess those unfortunates who didn’t get to see it in theatres are supposed to wait for the remake, out in 2010. Not too much excitement about that, judging from reactions re: attached director: Matt Reeeves?… (I’m not against remakes, but this one… oh boy… even if it’s good it will have to fight down a wall of resentment. Being compared to the original? It would have to be stellar. Good luck with that, Mr. Cloverfield (yuck), and please – give more interviews re: your “vision” for the film. The last one has already been torn to bits, burnt, and the ashes thrown into the dumpster. The bloggers need new fodder.)
If I had to bet on one remake-project being DOA, this remake would be the one.
Let the Right One In is one of the best movies I’ve seen this year. It’s an interesting genre-mix. It’s visually interesting (even though I had to read subtitles!
. It’s a good example for how less is more (exposition). Dang it. I’m going to read the novel, it’s on my list.
I hope DVD sales in March will go through the roof.
Um, how many people here have actually SEEN Slumdog Millionaire? I’d never even heard of it. I finally saw the poster of it (after looking for it) and thought WTF? It always find it amusing around awards time when movies the majority of people have never heard of (much less seen) are snapping up nominations like Carrie Fisher at a percocet party. And the people behind the Oscars wonder why their ratings are so low. They’re honoring movies no more than five people have seen.
