not only is Terrence a brilliant guy, but he’s also an african american exec
which means that new perspectives will be in the room when at least one network makes major decisions
good for NBC, now maybe they can correct that ship
Terrence is very smart, I think he went to Harvard. Glad to see he’s getting a shot. Will definitely offer a fresh perspective and has diverse taste.
Well I’m glad to see that someone with some brilliance will still be around at NBC. Terence Carter is a top-notch guy. He did indeed graduate from Harvard, and he’s a Ron Brown Scholar, which is one of the most prestigious undergraduate scholarships in the U.S. On top of that, he’s just an all-around good guy with great energy and work ethic. In the midst of all that’s going on at NBC, the fact that he’s still around is good news.
He may be a great guy but wasn’t he just promoted from Director to VP this past spring? I mean, seriously… What the hell is wrong with NBC?
There’s tons of talent out there – and most are unemployed!
Zucker graduated from Harvard. Thus the degree doesn’t necessarily translate to success.
Terence is a nice guy, but was a VP ASSISTANT in feature film as recently as a few years back. I’m not sure how having a hand in developing Knight Rider (a job my cat couldn’t screw up any worse; they’d have gotten better ratings rerunning the Hasselhoff original episodes) translated into a promotion from director to VP last spring, and I certainly can’t figure this additional step up from any viewpoint besides iternal cost-cutting. He’d make a fine low-level network exec, but there’s not enough dynamism here for the big gig. Then again – how many primetime drama hours does he even have to account for moving forward? What does it say when AMC and TNT have more original programming than NBC will have in primetime?
Note to NBC: Benny Boy, don’t remake the classics, just start rerunning them. Cosby, Cheers, Frasier, Miami Vice, ER, Friends, Seinfeld all in primetime. Bet you 100 bucks your ratings will improve!!!
Have any of you actually worked with Terence? He has no clue what he is doing and is basically just a yes man. he has no original thoughts of his own and they would have been better off just leaving the job open for now. no writer or producer will ever listen to him. chalk it up to another brilliant move by NBC.
Huge fan of Terence Carter. Just the nicest guy ever. And smart, kind…just a class-act all the way. But yeah, I’m skeptical if he’s got what it takes to get the job done. Poor guy. I’m so happy for him, but he’s gotta be feeling the pressure. I wish him nothing but the best despite my healthy dose of skepticism.
Is Edwin Chung still there? I always liked that guy. Another class act.
The last poster, obviously does not like Terence. True, while most of his shows have been cancelled–he still is a nice guy (I guess). While my experiences with him have not been the most positive, they were not all bad either. I think it is hard to make any real changes and shine really brightly when you are a lower level exec.-you have to be a yes man to the higher ups. I mean what choice do you have. So before we send him to be axed too, let’s give him a chance. Besides the real issue is much more than promoting certain people, it’s giving people outside of this snobby industry a chance to shine and show their talent. It’s way too hard to get a good idea through if you are an average Joe. And that is what’s killing Hollywood. This town has become a revenge of the nerds playground and no one wants to let anyone play in the their sandbox, unless they say, “Uncle!”
Terence Carter…this guy “FAILS UPWARD”…
He couldn’t pick a hit show if it fell on his head.
At NBC he told us the “Knightrider” re-make was going to be a hit.
Then he goes to FOX and he brings us “Past Life” and “Human Target”…he gets zero credit for “Glee” because it was in development before he came on board.
Terence Carter will continue to fail upwards and will one day be the Head of a Network..or a major film studio…or running the White House.
There is a reason why so few new scripted dramas are embraced by tv audiences….why? See Terence Carter.
FOX should raid CBS next time they want to bring on board development execs who have their finger on the pulse of what viewers want.
Terence went to Fox AFTER Past Life and Human Target were both developed. No one credits him with those shows.
But he WAS the exec who pushed Kings at NBC and Lone Star at FOX, and both of those were GREAT shows. He may not “have his finger on the pulse of what viewers want” if you just mean 10 versions of The Mentalist.
But I loved Kings and am really upset that Fox cancelled Lone Star. That’s great TV. More networks should make shows like those! His shows may get cancelled but they’re good. They should probably just be on HBO or Showtime. In fact, FOX–put Lone Star on cable so I can keep watching!!
