I hear Matthew Broderick and Greg Kinnear are close behind. Robbins was close to leaving CAA in August. But the underutilized actor/director/writer gave them more time. (See my previous, Is Tim Robbins About To Fire CAA?)

I blame it on the Jennifer Aniston Syndrome. Kevin Huvane spends so much time and energy pimping that two-bit hacktress that the real talent falls by the wayside. One day he’s going to look up and the only clients he’ll have left are Jennifer Aniston and his good buddy Joe Francis. If Brad Pitt hadn’t moved to Bryan Lourd when he divorced Aniston you can bet you butt he’d have ditched them, too.
Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, and sometimes… it rains.
I agree about Aniston. WTF is wrong with CAA can’t they see the writing on the wall? She hasn’t had a film out in 2 and 1/2 years. She made 4 films last 18 months and none of them could have made a particularly impressive payday for CAA. 2 are going to open in Croatia, before going to DVD, and the chick flick in Feb. ’09 looks positively ghastly!
Exactly where is Kevin Huvane? And yeah what’s up with CAA not protecting it’s real talent i.e. Brad Pitt from all that Aniston BS? KH afraid of his brother Stephen? You know if Lourd hadn’t talked Pitt into staying w/CAA 2 yrs ago he’d be gone too.
Yeah, Lourd was Pitt’s original agent from CAA. After that 2005 Vanity Fair meltdown by Jen Maniston he was close to walking. Why does Lourd let Huvane get away with this sh*t?
I think Angelina is the one who takes the most damage from the BS from Aniston’s camp. It doesn’t seem to effect pitt much.
It’s all so stupid. Everyone switches agencies so what is the difference. Great, Tim Robbins will leave and go back to WMA where he’s been twice before. Kinnear too. It’s a waste of a blog entry, Nikki. The bottom line is it all equals out. “They come, they go, who called?” – - Lou Weiss
It will not affect their bottom line. Caa will get 3 more from icm and uta. Endeavor will get some from wm morris and wm morris, well…
And so begins the musical chair of talent.
I don’t understand you people. Kevin Huvane is one of the best agents in this town, if you disagree with me just check out his client list and the company that he co-owns. Say what you will about CAA and any of its partners but hands down it is the best agency in the business. That being said, every agency loses clients. Get over it.
No one is crying for poor poor CAA. I hope their fallout goes to Endeavor or UTA. WMA is a disaster. ICM too. I’ve never met anyone represented at Paradigm so can’t speak about them as an agency.
Greg Kinnear should get a better agent.
The guy should be a much bigger star getting better and bigger roles but his instincts for quality seem to be really good.
If he’s smart, he’ll stay very far away from WMA. Hey that should be the new industry slogan.
Seriously, WMA is a mess.
Everyone knows Paradigm is the hottest and classiest agency. Adrien Brody was a great sign and that’s where quality stars belong. If a star is in it for the long haul, Paradigm is THE place to go.
“I think Angelina is the one who takes the most damage from the BS from Aniston’s camp. It doesn’t seem to effect pitt much.”
The recent Vogue article and Oprah appearance where she mentioned Angelina couldn’t have helped her Oscar chances, because despite everything it reminds people that she broke up a marriage.Even though she is one of the top grossing movie stars at the moment, bad press at campaign time…
Firing your agent? Isn’t that an expression commonly used by low level talent to help them feel more empowered than they actually are?
Tim Robbins should have stayed with Martin Gage. The first agent that got him work in LA. Same for Jack Black, Halle Berry, Kim Basinger, Janine Turner. There’s many other stars I’m sure that owe him more than gratitude.
Why is the only actor to show any loyalty to his first agent in this town been Jack Nicholson?
Carl, with all due respect, I didn’t know Paradigm was the hottest and classiest agency. I did hear the brothers who own it have a secret nightclub behind the agency with only 3 keys giving you access to it. Sounds pretty cool to me. Imagine all the hookers and blow!
As far as agencies, UTA is one of the few if the only one that grows it’s clients. Unfortunately, they are poached by CAA, who couldn’t grow a plant.
Looks like Gersh is DOA.
Are you guys serious? Do you realize how much money CAA has earned from Aniston over the years? A lot more than Pitt, I tell ya.
You cannot stop your clients from spouting off to the press. That does make it interesting, though.
Huvane is one of the best agents this business has seen. Maybe the best.
Agent–see also, Mr. Depp.
Boo hoo … I’m sure CAA is going to be sadly missing the 10% commission on his scale plus 10% paydays (okay, maybe Schedule F to be fair).
Agents are what they are … glorified real estate agents. If you don’t keep your house up to snuff and looking as nice as the other houses on your block, then don’t blame your agent if you can’t sell it. These actors need to do a better job picking their material and cultivating their celebrity … that is the real elephant in the room no one wants to talk about (the lack of stars today).
You’re kidding right? lol Aniston only earned a million dollars an episode at the end of Friends. That show has been off the air for 5 yrs. Syndication rights? Paid once. Pitt has been in the business how long earning huge paychecks from films and that doesn’t even include the money he gets from overseas endorsement deals. IIRC Aniston did two overseas commercials and was quickly dropped because of poor response. She makes what at this point between 3- 5 million a film?
And as far as Jolie breaking up Pitt’s marriage, please. This isn’t the Star Magazine crowd. Everyone knows that thing was rocky from jump street and 2003 really the end. 2004 was keeping it together for the end of Friends and Troy being released. The guy was living in and out of hotels in LA and staying at friends homes in Malibu. What Jolie has had to go through in the tabloid media because of Aniston’s lies is unlike anything ever seen in the industry
Forbes estimates that Aniston made $27 million to Jolie’s $14 million. Is Forbes wrong?
Both Jolie and Aniston are uninteresting. Even their media games are boring. I bet they each have a half-life as an A-lister of no more than 2 years from today, so who cares either way? The only thing that could make this debate fun is if Huh? and THEREALDEAL decide to settle this by mudwrestling nude. Then we could see what agents/interns/flacks/whatever are made of when everything is really on the line. And we could use up every sport cliche in the process.
Actually yes Forbes has been wrong…or at least they have over stated things to catch the attention of the target audience.
They claimed Pitt earned in excess of $30m, I believe from Jesse James & I believe Tree of Life. Both films he worked for <$2-3m. Even if they meant to include his pay earnings from O13 it would not add up to $30m they stamped on him.
