The underutilized actor-writer-director fired CAA on December 3rd after giving the tenpercentery notice back in August that he wasn’t satified. Though multiple agencies were heavily courting the Best Supporting Actor winner (Mystic River) and Best Director nominee (Dead Man Walking), my understanding is that United Talent’s Tracey Jacobs and her team had the inside track with Tim Robbins all along. UTA also recently signed Oscar winners Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck and Julian Fellowes.

Is the new UTA strategy to pickup the unloved, un-financeable, non-commission earning talent like Robbins and Gwyneth?
To DrOC:
Youre a moron. Get a brain and a life.
DrOC – you really are an idiot. UTA is kicking ass! Good for them.
Your sources told you that Tracey Jacobs and her team had the inside track? Please! No one wanted him. And as far as UTA employess goes, you either spell it like this, You are or You’re and employess is spelled employees. I have no idea who DrOC is, but they could not be more correct.
I remember the good old days when talent was king, whether you were a box office super star or not. based on the above comments talent isn’t worth anything unless it stars in comic book extravaganza’s.
Both are highly talented and since they can’t bring in the financing, I guess it’s a sign that agency’s should no longer handle those who can’t bring in financing.
That will solve their downsizing issues.
People like Tim Robbins and Gwyneth Paltrow are lightening rods for agencies. They attract other clients. Great directors want a place that has great actors. They go together. Plus Tim is a writer/director/actor. He’ll work for another 30 years. I don’t think CAA was happy to lose him or Gwyneth. They hate losing anyone.
