• Green Lantern is a go simply because TDK has carried way too much momentum for it to stop. As far as Batman 3 — I don’t think we’re getting another one till 2012, they have to come through on the script. This is one of those cases where the studio execs are putting on their smart caps not because they’re inherently smart themselves, but because the enormous success of TDK is forcing them to look at things in the long term. They know what makes Nolan tick and its the script. If its not on the page then Nolan and crew ain’t doing it. Period. So kudos to Alan Horn for speaking some truth to the situation.

• 1. Fingers crossed for Jon Stewart as GL, but I suspect they will start with Hal Jordon.

  2. The first Christopher Reeves’ Superman is the definite film version of Supes. Unless they adapt the Doomsday/Death of Superman story arc, why bother with another origin story? Or another Lex Luthor real estate scheme from? Yawn.

  Idea! Instead of relaunching the Superman movie franchise, wait until after Nolan completes Batman 3, and give the fans what they really want: a Batman/Superman film.

  3. Earth to Interviewer, stop asking questions about a JLA film. No one wants a JLA film — particularly the current rumored JLA film. Let Marvel Studios try their hand at the Avengers first, before WB destroys all the creditability that Nolan and Favrea have brought to “comic book films” in 2008.

• 2012 makes sense but let’s remember the script for “The Dark Knight” came together pretty quickly, with Heath signing on in q3 2006. This team (Nolan, Nolan, Thomas, Roven and Goyer) are all kind of specialists at developing movies on quick-ish timelines.

  The next Batman only has to be artistically better than “Spider-Man 3″ and cost lest than “Superman Returns” to be considered a MAJOR success. People are now aknowledging “The Dark Knight” is a phenomenon that won’t be reporoduced.

  Also Warner Bros. has to realize now that JLA is a losing proposition. It’s smarter for them to wait for Marvel to do “Avengers” and learn from those mistakes.

  “Green Lantern” is “on the runway.” Hmm. With any development project it’s bad news when the aviation metaphors come out (turbulence, course correction). What you want to hear are road-based vehicular metaphors (green light, in the driver’s seat, in the tank).

  Didn’t Alan Horn look like he was afraid to be asked about “Where The Wild Things Are” by this on-his-shit nerdgasming reporter.

• “Interested”: I think it was also Horn knowing he was going to get, and not wanting to answer, “Superman” questions… Anyone notice how he was SO ready to take off after barely answering that query? “Very anxious” to me, equates to “We don’t know what the &*$# we’re doing with the property.” They looooove Bats, but Supes is like the big pink elephant in the corner that no one wants to talk about… Very telling…

• if they were smart they’d do under fifty million movies of characters like dr. mid-nite, hourman, the earth2 b-list – get creative, fresh people in them. they’d make great money.
