The announcement was made today by Rory Bruer, president of worldwide distribution for Sony Pictures Worldwide Marketing & Distribution. Jim Amos had served as Sony Pictures’ division manager and senior vice president of distribution – eastern division, and now fills the vacancy left by Bruer’s promotion to his current role. "Jim is a 25 year veteran of the studio and I’m thrilled to be recognizing his extraordinary commitment and service to the studio with this well-deserved promotion.  His strong relationships with the exhibition community and many years of leadership managing our eastern operations make him the perfect choice as my successor," Bruer said in the news release.
