• …a ‘wannabe from Kansas’ would have actually made a point in his or her ~2 minutes of YouTube time. And he/she might have been funny or clever or have left the viewer with some positive impression.

  This however is an embarassing waste of bandwidth bearing the NY Times brand. And in service of the coverage of a bunch of awards the public really doesn’t care much about. Sad.

• I think you all miss the fact that he’s making fun of himself while doing this. If you follow his video series you’ll get that. He is one of the few people out there who covers the Oscars with a light touch. Everyone else is so deadly serious. I thought it was funny — and timely. He knows that the story of the season was whether or not The Dark Knight would be shunned or embraced. But to suggest that he did it because we was on crack is beyond what is called for here. We all say things online we would never dare say in person so that makes us all a bunch of cowards. We are what we all hoped we would never become.

• I think the video is funny and entertaining. I “daily” read the NYTIMES.com and Carpetbagger. Get off the high horse and understand that The Dark Knight was the top grossing film of the year, second all time. The people have spoken, unfortunately the Academy won’t likely listen.

• Um…seriously guys, why so serious? It was a pretty harmless joke, it’s not like he was competing for some comedy awards trophy. It was slightly funny and a little disturbing, and in the end just icing on the cake of Carr’s typical spot-on Oscar predictions.

• I would have to agree with Sasha. Everyone needs to lighten up. The Carpetbagger has been my only source for awards season news since its inception 4 years ago and that is Carr’s humor. He is self-deprecating, insightful, and occasionally his humor falls flat. Big deal.
