This joint SAG/AMPTP statement was released just now:

We will have no further comment about the meeting.

Get on it already!
Fascinating. AMPTP won’t meet to negotiate with Doug Allen and the neg com.
But they WILL meet with John McGuire and the “task force.”
Let’s see… a coupla crumbs, SAG gets a deal UFS can talk up, hopefully get approved, AMPTP gets pussies across the table.
Sounds like an even deal.
Thank you.
My guess is, as Rosenberg said, you’ll see applause all around and cries of “finally SAG is being reasonable” from the AMPTP.
Then the AMPTP will agree to not to force us into working French Hours in this contract. And victory will be declared by Walsh, Vaughn, and Carteris and the contract will be sent out for a vote.
Of course the contract will still eliminate middle class actors ability to survive and make the minimums for health insurance and we will vote it down.
Then we’ll see …
Does anyone know how many and who is on the “task force”?
I heard that Alan Rosenberg, Anne-Marie Johnson and Clancy Brown were on this “task force” — I hope that is true!
Don’t forget the ass gell.
Game…..Set…….Match
Cue THE END credits
Well, at least it won’t be long until we see just how badly United For Suckers sells SAG out.
All that I can think of right now is Braveheart, where the English King offers some lands to the Scottish nobles to get them to piss off.
Silly board members.
Strike a deal, lets move on and make movies again !! Shut up about a strike already !!
Will they really need TWO days in order to accept some token “advance” and cave to the rest? I’d say an hour should be sufficient.
DON’T FORGET, THE NATIONAL BOARD WILL BE COMPELLED TO DO WHAT IT HAS BEEN TRYING TO AVOID. THEY HAVE TO SEND THE CONTRACT OUT TO THE MEMBERSHIP FOR APPROVAL.
From the SAG Board written assent document… 3 MF vs everyone else…
V. Effective immediately, the TV/Theatrical Negotiating Committee is disbanded and is no longer authorized to continue negotiations on the TV/Theatrical Agreement or, because of its interrelated nature, the Live Action Basic Cable Agreement. In its place, a Taskforce is hereby formed to complete these negotiations on behalf of the Board of Directors. The Taskforce shall be comprised of the following 10 Members: HWD; Alan Rosenberg, Anne-Marie Johnson, Clancy Brown, Morgan Fairchild, Ned Vaughn, NY; Sam Freed, Mike Hodge, Matt Servitto, RBD; Mike Pniewski, Nancy Duerr, and 10 Alternates (to attend only if needed and at request of absent member): HWD; Stacey Travis, Leigh French, Jane Austin, NY; John Rothman, Sam Robards, RBD: Roy Costley, Molly Ballard, Abby Dylan, Katherine Howell, Mary McDonald-Lewis. The Taskforce will work with the Chief Negotiator, John McGuire, with the assistance of Ray Rodriguez and any staff of their choosing, to complete these negotiations and bring their recommendations back to the National Board.
Anyway, silly ESB, you have no idea what is coming next…you can’t go back…and you can’t blame the economy on SAG. So, just keep being a hampster — that’s all I can say.
Zackery said it all.
Time for the pissing match in the sandbox.
Hey, ESB — if you think actors are going to vote for a contract that destroys residuals, I’ve got a bridge for sale. Very cheap.
I agree w/ esb shut up already good god, enough already. You are pissed all the time about everything. 100,000 people lost jobs just in the last 7 days. Welcome to the real world where you don’t always get what you want. Stop crying.
How many of these new “negotiators” have any experience with these kind of high level negotiations? They’re going in with no credibility and will be soundly schooled by the AMPTP, who are laughing their collective asses off at the union’s lack of unity. Lube-up SAG, you’re about to get screwed.
Mulhern, Zachary, Luzid sound just like Rush Limbaugh hoping that Obama will fail. These people (who might actually be one person) are absolute TRAITORS to SAG by hoping that White will fail next week. I’m hoping for sucess and I am for my union!
Negotiations are back on.
That’s great news.
SAG should figure out their terms (not on public blogs) then send in Clancy Brown to make it so.
Everyone else should just shut-up and stand back.
Bill writes, “Mulhern, Zachary, Luzid sound just like Rush Limbaugh hoping that Obama will fail. These people (who might actually be one person) are absolute TRAITORS to SAG by hoping that White will fail next week. I’m hoping for sucess and I am for my union!”
I’m with you Bill. Let’s pray to God I’m wrong.
Although I have to draw the line when you compare the Unite For Strength posse– that less than a year ago petitioned to eliminate the contract voting rights of over 80% of the dues paying membership– to President Obama.
These people hijacked the union in a hostile takeover. Before that they blocked the membership from voting on a strike referendum and more recently saw to it we could not vote on the contract. A better comparison might be Castro.
I think you’ll find “our” current team has their personal agenda in mind more so than what might be best for the UNION membership.
But again, let’s think positive. Maybe the coalition of muti-national conglomerates the AMPTP represents merely didn’t like Doug Allen.
WOW. What a surprise. Ok, now let’s take a closer look at the “Task Force”.
HWD: Alan Rosenberg, Anne-Marie Johnson, Clancy Brown, Morgan Fairchild, Ned Vaughn (alts: Stacey Travis, Leigh French, Jane Austin)
NY:Sam Freed, Mike Hodge, Matt Servitto (alts:John Rothman, Sam Robards). RBD: Mike Pniewski, Nancy Duerr (alts:Roy Costly, Molly Ballard, Abby Dylan, Katherine Howell, Mary McDonald-Lewis).
Fairchild, Vaughn, Freed, Robards and Hodge publicly supported the AFTRA Prime Time contract. Robards was on the AFTRA negotiating committee. Rothman’s brother is a vp over at 20th Fox. National board members Fairchild, Freed, Hodge, Servitto, Pniewski, Duerr, Dylan, Lewis, Howell, Ballard, Costly and Robards signed the written assent. (board alternates are not allowed to sign written assents, only Nat’l board members can, although Vaughn, a board alternate, is the ring master of the written assent).
Rosenberg, Johnson, Brown and Austin are the only task force committee members who have fought publicly against the final AMPTP offer, supports a SAV, supported NED Allen and fought against the AFTRA prime-time contract. One of the NY Task force members was asked, during negotiations, by a key player of the AMPTP, to “sit on their side of the table”
McGuire has been a mediocre go along/get along negotiator for decades. And White was originally brought into the Guild by AMPTP operative and former whimp SAG NED/Negotiator Bob Pisano. I could go on but I think you get my point.
So, the AMPTP decided to come back to the table because they now approve of the new “Cast” from SAG?! Since when did the AMPTP become casting directors?
OK. Let’s see what’s up. What’s offered. How is it any different. If it’s no different, or has a coupla crumbs, negotiate your best, and send the offer out for a vote. Then we’ll see what’s up.
Glad to hear that Alan and Anne-Marie are there. Do your best, guys.
“…I’m hoping for sucess (sic) and I am for my union!”
Well so am I. I’m for the future of my union.
Just hurry it up already so membership cab vote it down.
Enough with this fascist behavior.
