Question: Does the Slumdog Millionaire team have a big enough mantel for all these awards? The DGA says its Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film has traditionally served as “a near-perfect barometer” for the Academy Award for Best Director.
Only 6 times since the DGA Award’s inception in 1948 has the winner not gone on to receive the Academy Award for Best Director (1968: Anthony Harvey DGA for The Lion in Winter/Carol Reed took home the Oscar for Oliver!; 1972: Francis Ford Coppola-The Godfather/Bob Fosse-Cabaret; 1985: Steven Spielberg-The Color Purple/Sydney Pollack-Out of Africa; 1995: Ron Howard-Apollo 13/Mel Gibson-Braveheart; 2000: Ang Lee-Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon/Steven Soderbergh-Traffic; 2002: Rob Marshall-Chicago/Roman Polanski-The Pianist).
Here are tonight’s winners of the Directors Guild of America Outstanding Directorial Achievement Awards and the recipients of the Guild’s 2009 Career Achievement Awards held at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles:

Question:
What does “Slumdog” Co-Director Loveleen Tandan get? Apparently she’s not even considered a member of the directorial team.
Danny thanked her profusely and pointed out that she was actually the casting director, although she is credited as co-director. It was gracious and made an impact- everyone there knew how appreciative Danny was of her contribution.
Well done Danny Boyle and greatly deserved. I am personally “over” all of the excessive advertising being done by Paramount in order to “buy” these Awards for BB. Benjamin Button is a bloated piece of work. Fincher is talented and should have been recognized for “Zodiac” last year which was a true master work. Benjamin Button is going down, it’s time Paramount got used to it and put it’s advertising dollars to better use. Wake up paramount, the game is over !
I thought there was some sort of unwritten rule that all comedy series awards automatically go to “30 Rock.”

Are you new? Thats what unions and other countries do. You have to hire a union stand by or double or you cant shoot in that area. They usually get a check and sit on the truck.
“Slumdog Millionaire”, from where I sat, and I have seen it twice, is the best picture of the year of all the films nominated and I have seen them all and then some. I know everyone has favorites but I don’t think there is a better film this year. I hope it goes all the way and claims the top prize on OSCAR night for everyone associated with the film. I am thinking most if not all viewers who have seen the movie would be and will be pleased if “Slumdog” comes out on top. GO SLUMDOG…GO…
Why is the cast of this movie ignored? The Indian people in this film are getting NO “recog” for what they’ve contributed to this great film. I looks like only the white guy is getting “love”, not the Indian actors.
