So everybody’s been hating on Imagine/Universal’s Robin Hood project before and after Sienna Miller was shoved out. That’s when the rumors started that it happened because one of the greatest actors of our generation Russell Crowe at 45 was too fat and old for the actioner in comparison. Oh, puh-leeze. The truth is 27-year-old Sienna Miller is also box office poison. Anyway, now Universal has slotted in the 39-year-old Cate Blanchett, Russell is getting buff, Ridley Scott starts principal photography in April, and the movie will get a name change as well. So can everyone give this a rest? (On the other hand, let’s talk about the constant battling I heard took place between always combative Michael Mann and Johnny Depp on Uni’s Public Enemies coming out July 1st.)

ummm, if the reason they are giving is that Sienna Miller is box office poison, then why did they hire her in the first place? It’s not like she had a slew of movies out after they hired her and then figured out that she was poison. This is bullshit, she may be poison, but the truth is asshole Crowe pushed her out. You’ve been spun.
Sienna Miller in indeed box office poison and I get the feeling she’ll also be Broadway poison when she premieres on the Great White Way this fall (I will bet anyone that she will eventually pull a “Piven”).
Of course – and how do I say this politely – her trampy ways that she displays in her personal life (i.e. Balthazar Getty just to name one instance) hasn’t won her any fans.
How is Sienna box office poison? She’s going to be in one of the big action movies this year, GI Joe. In what seems to be a rather prominent role too.
As for Russell Crowe, he hasn’t been relevant in forever. He blew so many chances with violent behavior. And obviously Hollywood chose the talented douche they prefer more…Sean Penn.
Huh – “They” didn’t say that Sienna was box office poison. Nikki did. Not that it matters but so did I. And do you know for a fact that Russell Crowe pushed her out? If not, then that sounds like libel to me. You had better rephrase as “In my opinion…”.
As to the question why was she hired in the first place? Who knows? Who cares? People get hired and replaced all the time. This is nothing new.
You have a lot to learn about Hollywood my friend. You better get to studying.
Sienna was too amoral and it would have been laughable for her to play the role of maid Marian. She cannot carry a film and this actress wannabe is too mediocre. Her PR team spun the story about Russell being too old and fat and Crowe took the flak in silence. Better that she left than for him to suffer with a box office bomb as well as for her to attampt to wreck his marriage.
I would go Sienna Miller in Nottingham.
I AVOID EVERY MOVIE WITH RUSSELL CROWE.
As simply a fan — I have never met the man personally, he comes off as an arrogant jerk.
She’s not poison, she’s just not an attraction. She’s like 98% of working actors – if she’s in a movie people want to see, they’ll go see it. If she’s not, they won’t. There are very very few actors that the audience actively won’t go to see … in fact I can’t really think of any. Maybe Lindsay Lohan. But put her in Transformers and nobody’s going to be shying away. It’s all about the flick.
You “avoid every movie with Russell Crowe”?
It always baffles me when people make statements like this. The guy is an actor, not your brother in law.
What the hell do you care if he comes off as arrogant in his real life.
He is an actor. And a very talented one.
When I see an actor in a film I care about one thing,
” Do I believe you” In Crowe’s case, I always do.
Get your head out of US weekly.
Sienna Miller isn’t box office poison. How could she be? The only people who even know who she IS are readers of this website and Defamer (RIP).
With the Baby Boomers approaching retirement age, expect more action movies with 40-something leads.
Sienna Miller is box office poison. I’m surprised she even gets work. Even her married boyfriends get fired from jobs (hi, Balthazar!).
I’d love to know how much money has been pissed away in pre-production on this piece of garbage that I can’t imagine anyone is interested in watching. Cate Blanchett isn’t exactly drawing power at the box office either. And Russel Crowe’s best days are behind him.
My friend and I met Russell Crowe a few years ago, and he was a total gentleman to us, couldn’t have been nicer. Just goes to show, people want to badmouth someone who made a few mistakes just because he’s successful.
Cathy22
Yeah … I’m sure he doesn’t smack a fuckin’ phone into “everyones” head ………… C’mon give him a break, he only does that kinda stuff when he get’s mad. ………………lol.
I have never seen a sienna miller movie.
#44 – your jealousy is showing, hey! Crowe hasn’t done anything since then, so why give him a hard time unless you wished you were as successful as he is?
I think the real crazy story is the cost of the film.
Over 200 million.

What about other casting news? I hear that Ridley got this amazing up and comer Oscar Isaac to play King John which is equally as big as Cate Blanchett’s role. Anyone else know about him?
Sienna Miller blows Cate B. away. Sienna is hot, talented and combustable. Try taking your eyes off her in Alfie. Watching her and the talented Crowe would’ve been great. What a shame it won’t come to pass. The initial castings should always be heeded. No matter what happens later.
Sienna Miller is NOT box poison, she did a knock-out job playing Edie Sedgwick in “Factory Girl”. She’s a better actor than most of the air heads (or dope heads) working.
Just what we need…another Robin Hood movie. Russell Crowe as Robin Hood…really? Russell Crowe is an amazing actor, there has to be a better project for him.
Why should anyone get excited about Robin Hood (yawn)?
Now, if Christian Bale and Ben Foster were on board, I’d watch it – like I did 3:10 to Yuma. Or Denzel Washington.
Russell Crowe as leading man seems pretty risky. Is Ridley Scott trying to resurrect his fave star from second banana back to seat-filler?
3:10 TO YUMA for Crowe was some sort of they-love-to-hate-him suicide mission. He was great in AMERICAN GANGSTER, that was the perfect role for him: slob on a mission. Underdog. The audience tolerates him in that.
In BODY OF LIES we loved to hate his character and said: his looks are going fast. Somehow that makes him sympathetic and perfect for roles like that in AMERICAN GANGSTER.
To buff him up and try to sell a potential romantic subplot along the way? Not sure the audience is ready to welcome him back. The trailer will have to convince them. Hell, the movie trailer made me watch – all hopeful – Revolutionary Road even though the screenplay sucked so bad I absolutely hated it. Earmark lots of $$ for marketing that one or get some A-listers (as in: seat fillers) attached.
This project COULD have been an interesting new take on a well-known old story.
INSTEAD, Ridley Scott has now transformed it into just another repeat of the same old same old.
Nottingham was a far more interesting title than Robin Hood, Having the Sheriff as the protagonaist intead of Robin was far more interesting. Having Crowe play both was an intriguing angle.
Now, I have zero interest in this unimaginative retread. They’ve sucked all the life out of it.
What earthly reason was there to post the ages of Sienna Miller and Cate Blanchett? It doesn’t provide useful info in the context of the story, and if it’s a catty dig at the actresses, it doesn’t work; Blanchett is talented enough that her career isn’t going to fall off a cliff after she hits 40.
In any event, I don’t think Sienna Miller has been in enough studio movies to have earned the label, “box office poison.” No one outside of the tabloids knows who she is, and she hasn’t done enough to earn Russell Crowe’s hard-earned rep for scaring away the movie customers.
Crowe getting “buff?” Take a look at the British tabs — they have some very recent snaps of Crowe on the beach, and he’s as tubby as ever.
“Sienna Miller is NOT box poison, she did a knock-out job playing Edie Sedgwick in “Factory Girl”.
Which took in the grand total of $1.6 million in the USA. Sounds pretty poisonous to me.
“In BODY OF LIES we loved to hate his character and said: his looks are going fast. ”
He put on 65 pounds to play the role.As he did for The Insider. He took THAT off to do Gladiator and he’s taken the 65 pounds off as well to do Robin. In short, he models his physique to the role – always has, so why rag on him now ??
Sienna Miller is box office poison because people don’t want to see her arrogant mug in a movie and remember the picture of a drunk, married, father nuzzling her nipple.
All she ever had was a face and a body. Now they’re going and she’s got nothing.
If GI Joe makes it, it will be inspite of, not because of her. Very few people love her, lot and lots of people hate her.
