Here's the info: "Imagine the obscured faces of MPTF Board Members and industry icons alike as they limo past our well-dressed group's rally on their way up the Beverly Hills Hotel driveway to 'The Night Before' fundraiser. Limo windows may hide their piqued interest and embarrassed glances at those riding with them: husbands, wives, arm candy. Yet our message will hit home, and make them think twice about the motives of the board, and the message of the fundraiser they are about to engage in. This Saturday, we need your support and your presence. At 5:30 PM we will assemble outside the Beverly Hills Hotel, dressed neatly in black and white, holding professionally prepared signs. Our flashlights will illuminate them, as we demonstrate to keep the long term care facility and hospital open. This rally isn't important - it's imperative."
When: Saturday February 21, 5:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Where: Beverly Hills Hotel, Sunset Blvd. and Crescent Dr.
(Park on side streets courtesy of Beverly Hills Police Dept. - they say it's cool).
Attire: Please dress neatly in black and white - bring a small flashlight.
PROFESSIONAL SIGNAGE WILL BE PROVIDED.
count me in!! I wonder, do you think they bring us refreshments from their party?
Not one dime should be donated this year to the fund. Or if it is, it should all be donated specifically towards the Home and Long Term Care facility. That helps the bottom line while sending a clear message.
Great idea! Best wishes to the rally-ers.
If anyone needs additional info you can contact me at traypfau@yahoo.com. On behalf of the residents and their families, thank you for your support. It is VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU ATTEND THE VIGIL AND DONATE WHATEVER YOU CAN. Every little big counts.
I hope the families’ presence at the Night Before Event will educate those that are only listening to one side of this story. Many of the people who attend this event don’t know what has really happened at the Motion Picture Home and how our loved ones have been treated since January 14th. This is the only way we know of to get the word out and speak for all those patients who cannot speak for themselves.
How is it possible that you wonderful Stars, Celebrities, and Industry Leaders who do so much to bring to our attention injustice in the world, are silent over a humanitarian crisis in your own back yard.
There is no financial problem with the Long Term Care Facility that imperils the entire Motion Picture Fund. The economy is being used as an excuse to get rid of the “Home” and the lives of so many elderly are being shattered – their world is falling in and it is so horrible to see. Ask the Board for the real financial documents for the Fund, and then ask for their “construction plans” which will suddenly appear when the weakest are gone or shipped out.
Please stop this tragedy in our own back yard.
I’m curious… Why would anyone protest a fund raising event? People are upset that the home was forced to close due to lack of money, yet they are going to protest the MPTF’s biggest fundraising event?
READ THIS PLEASE
THE MOTION PICTURE FUND BOARD WON’T ALLOW DONATIONS TO BE MADE TO THE LONG TERM CARE FACILITY, AND WON”T ALLOW FUND RAISING EFFORTS TO SAVE THE PEOPLE IN LONG TERM CARE FROM BEING EVICTED, AND TO KEEP IT OPEN FOR ALL OF US WHEN WE MAY NEED IT. THE BOARD GAVE THEIR SICKEST ELDERLY RESIDENTS 60 DAYS TO START GETTING OUT OF THEIR HOME, TO BE FOLLOWED BY A 30 DAY EVICTION NOTICE. THE BOARD HAS SHOWN NO DOCUMENTS OR PAPER WORK TO BACK UP THEIR CLAIM THAT THE “HOME” IS LOSING ANY MONEY. ON THE CONTRARY, AVAILABLE DOCUMENTS SHOW GAINS WHICH THE BOARD ANSWERS BY SAYING – THEY ARE FROM DONATIONS THAT MASK THE REAL FINANCIAL TROUBLES? FIRST THEY SAID THE HOME AND THE SMALL WING THAT IS THE HOSPITAL [WITH BASIC SERVICES] is LOSING $10 MILLION A YEAR, THEN IN THEIR PRESS CONFERENCE OF 2/11/09, THE CEO SAID THEY’D GO THROUGH THEIR $110 MILLION RESERVE IN LESS THAN 5 YEARS IF THEY KEPT IT OPEN. THINK ABOUT THAT. THEY GET A TOTAL OF $10,500
PER PERSON. IF YOU DIVIDE THE ALLEGED $10 or $22 MILLION A YEAR THEY SAY THEY ARE LOSING WITH APPROX 130 RESIDENTS, ADD IN THE MEDI CAL PAYMENTS AND OTHER [$10.5K) IT WOULD BE COSTING THEM ABOUT $17,000 PER PERSON PER MONTH OR $24,500 PER PER PERSON PER MONTH, RESPECTIVELY. DOES ANYBODY BELIEVE THIS? – IT IS MADE UP STUFF – PURE FANTASY FOR EASY PUBLIC CONSUMPTION.
OH, AND AS COMPARED TO PRIVATE FACILITIES, THE FUND OWNS THE LAND AND LONG TERM CARE PROPERTY OUTRIGHT, AND IS A CHARITABLE FUND RE TAXES, AND GETS DONATIONS AND ANNUITY MONIES.
If you had 138 dogs being taken out of their loving homes and sent to some strange place without their loving family and familiar surroundings, everyone would be up in arms and would fight to stop it.
Ain’t it the truth, caesar.
Not every long term care resident is a charity case. Some have pensions, personal insurance in addition to Medical and Medicare. Parents of members who are accepted in long-term care do not receive one dime from MPTV Fund. Their children (the qualified union members) are responsible for any overages after Medicare, personal insurance, Medical.
