  • “If you’re alive right now, it’s only because Christian Bale wants you to be.”

That right there is Chuck Norris territory. Batman, Patrick Bateman, John Connor….Chuck Norris will kick all their asses.

  • I love this guy! Doesn’t give us publicists the best name, but funny is funny.

  • this is such a non-issue considering the self-importance given to these situations and the abuse that goes on in every area of the entertainment industry. too bad if it hurts this guy, at least he’s talented.

  • I can’t wait until Warner Bros. gives this guy a movie deal – pretty sure he’s the next Christian Bale.

Comment by Josh — Wednesday February 4, 2009 @ 12:21pm PST  Reply to this post
  • Might be a little funnier if it weren’t for the fact that Christian Bale is about as threatening as a fruitfly.

  • Meh… not that funny.

Although, he’s right about Shane’s last name. Hurlbut? WTF? His parents obviously didn’t think he’d go into showbiz.

  • Between this motherf**ker, the remixes, etc, I can’t get enuff of this Bale debacle. Chek out The Christian Bale Primavera which tries to clean things up a bit:

  • I know Bale isn’t the only one that acts like this on set, not to name anybody else but Matt Dillan has Bale beat by a long shot. To me this is not news at all, just another actor being an actor on set. This clip was fucking hillarious tho.

  • Now, if that was for real I might have a grain of respect for PR flacks. (OK, I’d probably develop respect for bubonic plague, cluster mines and bad remakes of slasher movies that blew misogynistic chunks in the first place, but that vid was pants-drenching funny.)

Oh, and Bale was jerky to Shane Hurlbut. Anyone who says they’ve never lost their s**t to a degree they’d be ashamed to have in the public domain, is either a true saint, or a $#@!ing liar.

  • I love this guy, he needs to be famous…f*n hilarious.

  • Christian Bale, I’m not on that show but have been on many others and it is high time that someone took a DP to task. More and more, a select group of DPs are allowed to truly torture the crew around and under them in the name of “cinematography.” I’ve seen one hurl a cheese sandwich at the craft service girl because she “didn’t move her fat ass quick enough” for him, another PHYSICALLY jump up and down screaming, “I AM the DP! I AM in charge!” as he didn’t agree with the call time, and another demand a dress code for the working crew because “I can say anything I want. Without me, you’re all out of work,”and on and on.
There a plenty of wonderful camera folks out there, but the few, the ugly toady power mongers, make the rest of us miserable on a regular basis.
On behalf of actors and crew people everywhere, you know – human beings? It’s about time someone had the balls to bite back.
I wish you were on every job I do.
    Thanks.

  • What’s sad about Bale’s rant isn’t that he got upset at someone on the crew. I’m sure we can all relate to that part of the episode. No, what’s sad is that he came across like someone with the vocabulary (and mentality) of a middle schooler.

  • woW, this cat is so not funny. And why is everyone ripping off the Will Ferrill/Paul Rudd speech inflection in their comedy. Week. Last weak.

  • Kate:

Well, perhaps… but I don’t think Shane Hurlbut did much to distinguish himself on that score either. Couldn’t the guy have just said “sorry” and STFU instead of trying to justify himself to someone who pretty obvious wasn’t listening, and goading Bale like the class know-it-all who just has to have the last word.

Of course, McG could have grown a pair or borrowed Amy Pohler’s, and told the pair of them to STFU and get back to work.

Comment by Craig Ranapia — Wednesday February 4, 2009 @ 8:30pm PST  Reply to this post
  • Ah, hell, Christian Bale was just acting like a typical angry Hollywood Liberal spewing off a childish tirade. Taking out his frustration on some person who just happens to not be perfect. So what else is new.

Comment by jdls04 — Wednesday February 4, 2009 @ 10:38pm PST  Reply to this post
  • Priceless. Wish it was real. Though I still can’t totally blame Bale for losing it. I used to work for a DP and he would tweak for fucking ever unless you stopped him.

Comment by Angriest Planet — Thursday February 5, 2009 @ 1:58am PST  Reply to this post
  • I wish Christian Bale had instilled some of that psychotic intensity into Bruce Wayne/Batman instead of his ludicrous exaggerated high octave Clint Eastwood grumbling for DARK KNIGHT.

  • How much money and time does the DP want to waste, anyway? The dude totally had it coming.
