• It’s great that we have freedom of expression in America to express our support for gay rights. Kudos to these people, including Sean Penn, for using their fame to speak out on such an important issue.

• I saw Sean Penn wear the White Knot @ the Oscars too, as well as his ex wife Madge at one of the after-parties. Elton John wore one at his Oscar party. I think I saw one on Zac Efron [is Disney the most homophobic studio] as well as Hugh Jackman.

  Sean Penn did NOT have a knot on at the Oscars, at least not during the ceremony. That’s what jumped out at me–that he would spend so much time in his acceptance speech chastising the protestors and yet not showing his support through wearing the ribbon.

• Personally, I could care less if Penn wore one. He spoke up for gay rights at SAG. He took on a role some would not for fear of type casting or gossip mongering. He asked for the kissing scenes to be inserted at the beginning of Milk so that the authenticity of the story would be preserved and that people wouldn’t spend more time watching for the sex, than watching the message. Penn doesn’t need a ribbon to show his support, he’s been living it.

• Oh for goodness sake… everyone knows these ‘symbols’ are worn because the stars need to look like they care (no PR agent wants to explain why their client wasn’t supporting the latest cause).

  It has nothing to do with the cause they represent.

  I’d imagine they’re slapped on at the last minute and probably tossed away before the suit gets to the dry cleaners.

• I guess AIDS has been cured and no longer affects anybody anymore, right? Once upon a time nearly every celeb at every award show proudly wore an AIDS ribbon, and those who didn’t were met with suspicion and scorn. After all, if you didn’t wear the ribbon that must’ve meant you enjoyed seeing people afflicted, or some other such childish, judgmental rot.

  Now ‘marriage equality’ is the left-wing, ribbon-wearing rallying cry. Alas, if wearing the ribbon proves complete credibility on the issue, it appears 90% of Academy Awards attendees failed miserably. So, to show consistency, the time has come to publish their home addresses on the web, rally in front of their homes and demand that they be fired immediately from any and all projects.

• I support gay marriage.

  But keeping track of who wears and doesn’t wear a ribbon is only a step away from blacklisting. What about actors who believe in keeping politics out of showbiz? What about conservatives? Are you going to give them even less room to think and breathe?

• I don’t really care one way or the other about the gay marriage issue because it seems like everyone is getting divorced these days. However, it does seem that some of the white knot people may be talking out of both sides of their mouths. Wasn’t the “elegant man” who Sean Penn referred to that is now the president against gay marriage? I believe Sean Penn just complimented someone who is by their own admission against the cause being championed by H’wood. By Penn’s definition, shouldn’t it be shame on the elegant man?

• Snore fest Nikki. No one gives a shit. Now can you go back to reporting on the news?

  What about Brad Grey and why does he have such a close relationship to Brad Pitt, and why is he giving blank checks to everything that “Brangelina” want to do, despite huge box office losses?

  Also what about the fact that shaky Viacom boss Sumner Redstone possibly wants Peter Chernin to be his no. 2. Chernin is known as being a budget stickler, and he will go head to head with Grey if he gets in there.

  Why?

  Because Grey is giving blank checks ONLY TO BRAD PITT & Angie. For instance, her latest flick Salt is with a small company housed at Paramount. A new flick she just signed up for “The Mercenary” is with Wheelhouse Enertainment, which is with Paramount’s Icon.

  Plan B does almost nothing but bombs, yet Brad Grey continues to give Brad Pitt unlimited funds for his vanity projects.

  And Grey has some kind of “man crush” or “gay crush” on Pitt. He always sits at Pitt’s table, and brings Pitt/Jolie to the VIP sections of parties, say at Chateau Marmount.

  Look into their relationship Nikki. Grey is chintzy with everyone else, ie, people such as REAL MONEY MAKERS like Michael Bay, yet is hand holding MONEY LOSER Brad Pitt.

  I agree! And the gay rights crowd needs to gather at the “stars” favorite restaurants and places of worship and cause a disturbance, as well as boycott and picket their movies. Let’s go people! Consistency is key!
