The rally is 11AM to 2PM at Fox Studios at 10201 Pico Blvd. (Unvalidated free parking across the street at Rancho Park.) “Peter Chernin, CEO of Fox, has stated that there will be no reruns on Fox network and all programs will go directly to streaming on the Internet, eliminating our residuals and contributions to health coverage and pensions,” the protest organizers, who are SAG activists but not members of SAG leadership. “We must express our concern at this attack on our ability to earn a living and make it clear that we intend to vote NO on the contract.”

“Thank God Hulu added seasons 2 and 3 to The Incredible Hulk. Save someone some money and avoiding buying DVD box sets in this hard economic times!!! LOL”
Also, I thought it interesting in 198O, the average ‘hour’ of television programming was 50 minutes compared to 44 minutes currently.

you know why scott wilson can speak out so effectively? because he removed himself from holding any leadership role within sag.
what, in your opinion, could MF have done to prevent masur’s coup? you (in my opinion, overly) criticize MF, but i’m not sure i’ve heard you offer any alternative to how they could have staved off masur and his butt monkeys or how they could have realistically gotten the SAV the first time. i’d love to hear what you would have done differently way back when it would have counted.
Screw Merger!!! Merge with that LOW BALL Federation AFTRA? You have got to be kidding!!! The Pension and Health Plans would not, could not be merged. So, how the hell would it be a true merger? SAG would be joining the Go Along to Get Along, Low-Ball group of broadcasters and recording artists. What SAG should do, is absorb all actors currently represented by AFTRA. Then the actors of both unions would be under one roof and would not have Broadcasters and Recording Artists to screw things up for them. But, a merger would be a Huge Mistake!
Good luck out there today, guys and gals! Especially in the rain. I hope you have a great turnout.
(I just got a new job, so I am at work and will not be able to be there.)

Here’s hoping selfish assholes like you continue to starve.
MF and the former leadership, in answer to your question, had the power to send out an SAV. They CHOSE not to do so. They CHOSE to blame not doing so on a campaign to discredit the SAV. I’m sorry, but to read high-profile members of MF STILL saying “it’s all their fault” is not helping SAG, or them. I know for a fact support is at a low ebb for MF and until they take responsibility for themselves and at least SAY “yes, we could have sent out the SAV and did not – we did NOT TRUST the membership, we got too clever by half, and THAT delay caused the build up of frustration that boiled over into the UFS coup and the complete mess we’re in now,” they will not move forward.
As I’ve said before, if the SAV didn’t pass – then, get out of the way. But to have a 97% vote to send it out if federal mediation fails, then have federal mediation fail, followed by a 15 to 2 vote of the neg com to follow the directive of the national board to send out the SAV and then STALL because you’re worried about the campaign being mounted against the passing of the SAV and SIT on it, until you are literally overthrown by your political opponents?
That’s irresponsible. And not acknowledging it, and writing as recently as yesterday on the new MF website that somehow the SAV has not gone out because of your political opposition – is bullshit. YOU HAD THE POWER TO SEND IT OUT – and you did not act.
THAT is the truth.
matt …
before the coup, UFS/NY/RBD was voting unanimously and/or mostly with MF to take certain action, then rescinding their support of their own votes. they did this time and time again. they were making deals with MF, then not honoring the deals.
so, really, it’s that nobody in MF foresaw that masur and his minions would lie to the extreme extent they did. MF believed certain people had enough integrity to be believed when they voted a certain way.
nobody in a leadership role at sag should have to be dealing with that kind of machiavellian duplicity from anybody but the amptp, and i think it’s kind of shitty to be revisionist about things MF did that were actually pretty honorable at the time.
