Yes, I think it’s weird, too, that this is the second Endeavor signing in a row of a William Morris client. Usually, when there’s a merger or buyout in the works, the two agencies agree not to poach. Then again, I’m told that Jim Wiatt told a WMA staff meeting yesterday that any merger deal wasn’t happening right away and the tenpercentery should stay focused on its clients.
Co-Director of Janklow & Nesbit Associates where he worked since 1991, Eric Simonoff is joining the William Morris Agency as an SVP. The book agent brings with him 3 Pulitzer Prize-winners, 17 New York Times bestselling authors, and 14 New Yorker contributors. His cients include Jhumpa Lahiri (Unaccustomed Earth), Edward P Jones (The Known World), Stacy Schiff (Cleopatra), and Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child (Book of the Dead, The Monster of Florence, Terminal Freeze).

Ever consider that the deal is falling through?
Agent speaking = lying
Jim Wiatt = Agent
Jim Wiatt = liar
Stay focused. How about GET focused.
Or maybe this is all part of a cunning plan to subtly move their movie and TV clients over to Endeavor, while WMA centers on their music list, and distract the people speculating about their merger?
Or maybe I’m thinking they’re smarter than they actually are?
Or maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about?
Which is probably the case.
How will WMA survive without all that Sean Hayes cash? They’re doomed!!!
Why bother to sign Sean Hayes? What has he done since Will & Grace went off the air? A supporting role in a poorly reviewed Jack Nicholson film. That’s it. Who’s going to be the “next big get”? Joe Dallesandro? Lol!
Or perhaps it is because those agents will be gone after the merger and they want to keep those clients in the fold. My inside source tells me it is a done deal
Why is Sean Hayes considered a get? Is there another series in him? Cuz that looks to be the only thing he’s got going on. What does End. plan on doing with him? And could they have possibly lured him with potential movies?
Good riddance! If you’ve had any dealings with the guy, you will be able to attest to just what a flake he is… Talented and nice as all heck, but a TOTAL flake and wishy-washy when it comes to the business aspect of Show Business.
“done deal”??? Your inside source must be amazing friends with jim wiatt and ari emanuel! that must be amazing!
It’ll be interesting to see where Hasbro goes. If Hasbro leaves then you can say bye bye to the Intellectual Property group as that is their only client…
Gaby:
Congratulation on all of the great work you’ve done at William Morris. You are strategic, visionary and a true leader. You have inspired many. Your leadership abilities, emphasis on team spirit and work ethic have made you the leader you are today. The fact that you have served as a true mentor to so many of the young, aspiring trainees should serve as a model to other agents at William Morris as well as those at CAA, Endeavor, UTA and Paradigm. Everyone wishes they were on your desk as your kindness is overwhelming. Someday, I want to be just like you. Someday, maybe I’ll have the work ethic, knowledge and true leadership capabilities that you so exemplify. I have utmost respect for you.

First thing. Sean Hayes is NOT a flake.
Second thing. The Bucket List was NOT poorly reviewed. It got some MIXED reviews, period.
Third thing. Sean Hayes IS a VERY VALUABLE asset to ANY agency.
Fourth thing. Why all the negativity here about Sean Hayes. Maybe some very jealous people posting here. Or perhaps a little anger management issue here and there.
Good for Sean Hayes, taking his time with projects. He had a great run with Damn Yankees, a good performance in Igor, and Soul Men with the late great Bernie Mac and the late great Isaac Hayes. So proof positive that he IS getting work and he has his production company to run too. Very gifted musician, that is Sean Hayes.
Endeavor WILL work even that much harder with him and probably have his schedule already mapped out for him.
Sean Hayes IS the BEST of the BEST!
Linda – what is Sean Hayes doing right now? Hmm?
You remind me very much of a Claymate or Arch Angel and that’s a little depressing.
Fact is, Hayes doesn’t have a career yet he’s being snapped up by an agency that’s about to go out of business.
Mahogany
I am NOT any Claymate, don’t like his music. Don’t know anything about any Arch Angel so hate to burst your bubble of incorrect assumption.
I will hold my opinion if and or when Endeavor OR Willian Morris Agency goes away. Maybe this is a temporary move on Sean Hayes part. A little strategy for the moment.
Sean has has a career. Some actors take short breaks in-between projects for a variey of reasons and then they are ready for something else. For example, actress Sally Field was supposed to be in some kind of semi-retirement and then Brothers and Sisters came about and she came out of this sorta, kinda retirement because she was a single parent raising 3 children and now she is an Emmy winner with Brothers and Sisters. The same can be said about Cher who was in a kind of retirement way and now she is coming back too and also Tina Turner too.
Actors and Singers DO NOT have to be doing back to back to back projects all the time to be active in the business and intelligent in business dealings either.
Sean Hayes is INTELLIGENT and EXPERIENCED and KNOWS the business inside and out too. He is NOT wishy washy for anything. Maybe a little cautious but wishy washy, I think NOT. He is smart and wise and knows what his plan is.
Sean Hayes HAS a career. He is very involved in his production company which has projects in development and had a project picked up Eight Days A Week but the Writers Strike kind of kicked it back.
Fact is , he does have a career whether or not you have the ability to see that for your own self.
So I will have to correct you on all of your flawed responses to my posting. Pre-judging a posters comments is assuming ignorance, of which that you are.
Sorry!
As a fan who has been following Sean’s career for years, I can tell you that Sean is a smart and extremely talented man. Anyone who can’t see that is as blind as a bat.
The people who bash him really don’t know that much about him. He’s a flake and he has no career? Don’t make me laugh! Just because he’s not in the spotlight like Brad & Angelina doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a career. Any idiot knows that. Sean has always been very picky about his projects and I have a lot of respect for him for choosing different roles over the years to show that he’s very versatile.
But of course – opinions are like assholes. Everyone’s got one. If you choose to believe that Sean is a flake and has no career than good for you.
