It’s taken The New York Times since February 17th to write a story about my first scoop that the Endeavor/William Morris merger talks were for real. (Nor did the paper give me credit.) Too bad tomorrow’s article has no news but a lot of stuff wrong. Then again, I don’t recall seeing any of the other showbiz media even trying to match my postings. Stay tuned and I’ll tell you more, like how desperation makes strange bedfellows in the tenpercentery biz. In the meantime, what should the new agency — if this deal ever happens — be called?

I hope they keep William Morris. Endeavor may be hot right now but they’re still a realitively young agency. Maybe they’ll go with something like WME (William Morris | Endeavor) and then eventually faze the Endeavor part out ones the water settles a bit.
William Morris has been around for over a century. If they faze out the name entirely then that would be a shame.
Wendeavorris, or the “do nothing agency”
or “let’s ignore putting our theatrical clients in great indie movies and instead put them in horrific studio dreck – anything to make a fast buck for doing nothing”
Will End More…
EverMorr. How terribly ironic.
Endorris…like the funky grandmother from Bewitched!
Inglorious Bastards
Faze or Phase? The name “General Motors” may soon be avail…or they could go with “Enron”…or in keeping w/ the three letter “tradition” AIG?? But, most probably they will go w/ Triad.
They should just cut to the chase and call it: “Into It.”
“let’s ignore putting our theatrical clients in great indie movies and instead put them in horrific studio dreck – anything to make a fast buck for doing nothing”
I love hearing you walking talking cliches completely ignore the fact that this industry is a BUSINESS about making MONEY. Indies are fine but this merger wouldn’t even be happening if it wasn’t about money.
Endeavor to be William Morris?
To recycle one of my posts last week:
EndovWilliamMorris
WMA should go away and just call it Endeavor. The name WMA has had a great run – but time to move on. Or perhaps continue to call the music division that, but the big co. should be Endeavor. As much as WM is a storied name, plenty of storied names have come and gone and everyone did just fine. And really, most of the big agencies are called things and not people (Gersh Agency notwithstanding). That’s branding baby!
So will Paul Haas and Richard Weitz report to Aaron Kaplan…don’t think so…my take is that Aaron becomes the new Lanny Novick…Just buy him a pair of those White Buck shoes…
I got a new name for them and the people who work there “Prick’s Palace”
Ari’s House of Fuck You
Emanuel Morris
I agree. Keep William Morris name.
Perhaps they could call it Whaaaaaatever:)
William Morris as a company would make more money if they just got out of the agency business altogether. They own so much real estate and other investments that the agency part of operations is actually an albatross.
they should call it a day, or unneccessary
dumb idea – though if wma is rich as they say – will it matter much to them?
who has to pay what bills here? why does this make sense to each?
weak move on Endeavor’s part – imho – they prob getting mad money but sort of like watching Ted Nugent joining the Damn Yankees
Miller Gold…which sounds much better than Wyatt Twerp
LyingCheatingBastards Agency
DevMo. Can’t wait for the semi-annual 5 cent spec sale!
