  The real issue that everyone is missing is that Obama has a sell ahead that is tougher than a pitch for a Watchmen prequel.

  Obama wants to give MORE money to AIG et al. This isn’t a Democrat thing. A Republican would want to do the same thing.

  Any additional financial assistance to any corp is DOA in Congress right now. The populist revolt is building.

  Obama has to somehow claim to be angry about AIG while selling us on giving them even more money despite all of the previous money making little difference.

  He should be appearing everywhere, because his credibility is going down weekly. Approval scores are lower for Obama now than they were for Bush at the same point in his first term.

  For Obama to sell his plan now, he may have to cash in all of the goodwill he would have had this year on one financial assitance bill. It’s going to be a tough political year for him regardless, now.

• How about this for an idea- see how he does first BEFORE criticizing him??? Yes, this has never been done but who knows? Perhaps Obama will set a new trend. This is what I like about Obama – he’s not afraid to try new things. And just because YOU don’t watch The Tonight Show doesn’t mean that others don’t watch. I applaud him for thinking outside of the box in order to push his agenda.

• Maybe Jay can advise Obama on how to run a successful enterprise. Also how to handle criticism without retaliation, censorship or Truth Squads. Developing a solid work ethic is something Jay knows about, too. For all the vacations Leno refuses to take, Obama might benefit from the same serious approach to his own commitments and responsibilities. • So, if you criticize the President, you are automatically a racist or a Republican? The ignorance and demagoguery on both sides of these comments are frightening.

  Fact is, both parties are rotten and instead of screeching at each other people should unite and be very upset. It’s comforting to think one side offers salvation, but it doesn’t. It’s all a mess to varying degrees. Bush was a disaster (and btw he blamed many things on Clinton.) Obama is not the messiah, he is a typical politician who engages in the same old, same old (though the extent of it remains to be seen.)

  The Leno appearance is a manipulative ploy, a cynical ‘charm offensive’, for Obama to distract from the fact that his admin and Congress knew for some time about the bonuses and allowed it. Enough people will see him on Leno and say oh he’s funny, he has a nice smile, and be stupidly pacified. Obama appears to say one thing to the public but has aides do otherwise. All this government outrage is just theater at all your expense. That includes Congress.
